About this chalet rental

Affordable Ski Chalet holiday in "Narnia" in the middle of a wood.
Luxury ski chalet providing ideal accommodation for either family holidays or for groups of friends on a budget. Cheap skiing and excellent ski tuition in Bulgaria.

The best place to stay is our 119m2 ski chalet with 2 double size bedrooms and 2 shower rooms surrounded by forest and lots of snow. It is a very popular location with the children who think they have come to Narnia. Have a winter sport holiday or a Multi-Activity holiday in summer. Or relax in our rural retreat with outings to places of scenic or cultural interest. Summer weather is usually reliably sunny and 18-22C.

The benefit of staying in a chalet includes a separate room for the kids and a living space for you to chill out in the evening. You also have a kitchen area and all the comforts of home but with an onsite restaurant and bar.

There is nothing worse than taking the kids on holiday and being stuck in a hotel room while they are sleeping/lights out early/having to be quiet...
Small chalets are a good option with parents able to chill out by the cosy, romantic wood burning fire with the kids asleep upstairs and in a separate bedroom, but still close enough to hear.

There is a ski shuttle service at minimal cost to get to the slopes.

Interski Pamporovo are our preferred provider for all your skiing needs - tuition and equipment - and give a 100% best price guarantee.
The Ride Spot can provide all your snowboarding needs. These are both at Ski Centre 2 Hotel Marcony.
Ski School Steve at Studenets at the Middle Ski Station is our nearest school and best place for hire of any equipment.

Visit our Hansel and Gretel place. Not a Gingerbread House but a secluded ski chalet village in the middle of a wood. In summer combine visiting this fairy tale place with a week on the Greek Aegean - we are within 100km of Kavala or the island of Thassos is a lovely island.

For those wanting to see more of Bulgaria, consider taking a week in Pamporovo and a week on the Black Sea coast. If you would like a 2 centre holiday with a week on the Black Sea at Bourgas (Sunny Beach) Sozopol or Sinemorets, the last section of the A1 Motorway has now been completed and so as a consequence, you can get across to the coast in about 3.5 hours.

Pamporovo ski . FOR SALE - will not affect bookings.

Pamporovo- the southern most ski resort in Europe: Pamporovo is the southern most ski resort in Europe and the sunniest mountain resort in Bulgaria. It has good weather for skiing and pleasantly warm weather throughout the long summer. It has an average winter sunshine of 120 days - but the snow is reliable (consider how unreliable the snow cover was in many European resorts
2007). Resort altitude is1,650M and ski temperatures average a pleasant -3C. Ski season is mid December to early April. Average snowfall is 1.5M the peak at Snejanka is 1,926M.
Summer temperatures range from May 10C-20C with similar temperatures at the beginning of October. July and August can reach an average high of 30C and low rainfall July through September (about 30mm in each of these months with August being the driest). Car hire is recommended in summer to take advantage of exploring the beautiful mountain area. A small family car would be adequate around £170 per week. The drive from the airport Sofia takes about 3++ hours with lovely scenery.

Pamporovo- excellent skiing at budget prices: Pamporovo is probably one of the three best places in the world to learn to ski. It is especially suitable for beginners and children. It boasts an excellent ski school - possibly the best for beginners and the instructors speak good English. Ski /snowboard hire and tuition are cheap compared to anywhere else. Cheap ski lift passes and the cost is only just over half of what you would pay in Austria.
For more advanced skiers there is a choice of intermediate runs, and for the advanced skier the’ wall' black mogul run and some interesting long reds. Time yourself on the international slalom course.
Pamporovo has après ski at value prices - BJ's bar, Dave's Bar, and White Hart Pub
Pamporovo offers excellent value all year round and the cost of things is low. A 3 course meal out with wine is less than £10 per person. Have a traditional Bulgarian night out in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant for not much more

Chalets at Pamporovo Village in summer- rural retreat/be active: Days out and places of interest - rock formations and rock climbing; river activities; Roman ruins; caves; churches and chapels. The Bachkovo Monastery is a must see. Visit the 'emerald eyes' of the Rhodope mountain range - the Smolyan Lakes near to Forest Nook. The Yagodina Cave - the longest cave in Bulgaria is a 15 km drive away towards the pretty town of Shriko Luca.
Wildlife - The Rhodope mountain range is a haven for birds/birdwatchers and contains over 200 species - many of which are rare. There are lush meadows, home to an abundance of flowers, many of which are only found in this area. Go walking with our mountain guide Dicho, who is an expert on the wildlife, flowers and rare plants.
Romantic/relaxing holiday - or Forest Nook has an Activities centre. canoeing, caves, off road safari or ATV, or horse riding/trekking. Via Ferrata or Quad biking.

See more of Bulgaria - consider a week at Chalets at Pamporovo Village and a week on the Black Sea coast or Greek Aegean coast. We can arrange airport transfers or car hire from Kavala. Some guests spend a week on the island of Thassos and a week at Chalets at Pamporovo Village.

Chalet 4: Forest Nook 2 We stayed at Forest Nook 2 Chalet 4 at Pamporovo which turned out to be an ideal location for trekking and scenic beauty. The detached quietly situated chalet was home from home. The first floor has 2 spacious bedrooms with 2 bath rooms with excellent shower facilities and can sleep four people. The large comfortable lounge could sleep another two people and has its own toilet. Cooking facilities gave us all we needed to provide our own meals. A fan controlled oven, two cooking rings and a microwave oven was more than adequate for roasts and simple meals. A toaster, fridge freezer, a kettle and a range of cooking utensils together with a full range cups plates etc. made the Chalet self contained. For in house entertainment a DVD, Widescreen TV and a Play station with a selection of games are provided. The chalet is also very close to a restaurant and pool. It is brilliant for groups of young people. We found it on a holiday lettings website. Some of the highlights are the rides on the mountain ski lifts at Mechi Chai Chepelare, which gave a remarkable view of the surrounding country side and a visit to the communication and TV tower at Snejhanka. On a clear day it is possible to see the Greek border. We also took a chair lift to the Smolyan Lakes nearby. Slightly further afield are the Wonderful Bridges which are well worth a visit. We also visited the Roman Amplitheatre and the nineteenth century old town of Plovdiv, and the Bachkovo monastery. It is also worth mentioning the summer temperature was approximately 23C and is reasonably consistant. We noticed every effort being made to prepare/improve the slopes for the 2010 ski/snowboard season. Snow/water cannons have been installed to compliment the seasonal snow falls, in Pamporovo, and to ensure that snow is always present on the slopes. In summer car hire is essential. In winter the convenience of your own transport. The cost could be offset by savings from airport transfer services and local shuttle services to and from the ski slopes. We used Bulgaria Car Rent. They gave excellent service, at reasonable rates, and the Nissan Quasqui, that we hired, was reliable and can be recommended. Parking is no problem at the Chalet and by the slopes (except possibly during Christmas and the New Year weeks).

We rented this chalet for a short skiing break with our two small children. The owner was very helpful, making booking easy, giving us good directions and providing advice about ski schools, restaurants etc. The chalet itself was comfortable and quiet. It was nice to be away from the big hotels and package groups in the main Pamporovo area. The chalet had everything we needed to enjoy our four day break - including a lovely fireplace, comfortable beds, plenty of room to store ski gear and a carpark right outside the chalet. The restaurant in the complex is also good, and reasonably priced. Unfortunately it does not open until 9am, so if you want to make an early start you need to bring your own breakfast food with you to prepare in the chalet. The kitchen is not big but is sufficient to be able to heat up a meal or cook something simple like pasta, breakfast etc. The weekend that we were at the chalet there was a lot of snow on the ground which slowly melted during our stay. The road to the complex is not sealed and became very slippery as the snow melted. Although this was not a big problem for us, as we have a good four wheel drive car other cars did have some difficulties getting up to the main road. It is probably worth checking on the state of the road before you arrive as the management can arrange for you to be driven down to the chalet in their own small jeeps. Overall we had a very enjoyable weekend at the chalet and a good time skiing at Pamporovo. The ski instructors recommended by the owner were excellent and our children are now addicted to skiing.

I went with my kids in Jan 09. The accommodation was excellent, a nice wood burner, good food and beer across the road and not too far from the slopes. I hired a 4x4, and needed it for the track leading to the resort. My kids and I are seriously considering renting it again next year, great holiday, lots of fun, exciting driving and good skiing. And cheap. John

Our family of 5 spent 2 weeks in july in this chalet. Kids are 10, 12, and 14. For families like this the chalet worked out very nicely. Everything is rather new, presumeably built in 2007. The chalet was posted as for up to 6 people, and it may easily accomodate that with two bathrooms and an additional restroom. Minor things: The dinner table only had four chairs, and there was no outside chairs for the terrace or the balcony. We could however borrow this from neighbors. There are extremely few turists during the summer and everything in Pamporovo is in very low gear. This had some benefits. We had a very nice and fresh outdoor svimming pool and spa almost by ourselves. Finding the chalet proved difficult if one arrives when it is dark. Signs are not great, and the last part of the road to the chalet does not convince you that you are on the right track. A 4WD is not necessary, but one needs to drive very carefully as the road conditions are generally bad. We managed well with a Peugeot Partner rented at Sofia airport. The mountains are very beautiful and suitable for nice hikes. We enjoyed trips to the cities of Smolyan, Chepelare, Shiroka Laka, and Plovdiv, and to the caves, miracle bridges, Snechanka, and Perelik. It is difficult to find a well assorted supermarket in Bulgaria. We can recommend people to stop at the big Billa supermarket in Plovdiv on the way, and fill the fridge with great food Bulgarian food products, that is if you want to cook a bit yourself. Climate was great. Sun and comfortable temperatures for 13 days and one day with rain and clouds. Alltogether we can recommend this property for anyone who wants to explore the Bulgarian mountains. One still gets very good value for the money spent in Bulgaria.

We enjoyed an excellent family holiday over February half-term and the slopes were not overly crowded. My four year old nephew was in a winter wonderland. We obtained individual skiing tuition at a very reasonable price. Pamporovo is excellent for beginners - or for those who have not skiied in over a decade. Staying in the chalet was as close as staying home from home as you are likely to find. We could curl up on the sofa and watch DVDs in the evenings (- once a lead from the DVD player to the socket was provided.). The chalet is new. The pound has reduced in value against the euro and even against the lev - although by comparison Bulgaria is still very cheap. Take plenty of Levs in cash.
