About this cottage rental

This contemporary cottage enjoys a peaceful location in an elevated position just minutes away from the village hub. Perfectly placed to take advantage of all that Blockley has to offer but ideally located to ensure a tranquil stay.

Blockley is a delightful golden stone village, situated within the rolling hills of the North Cotswolds between Moreton-in-Marsh (with direct rail links to London Paddington) and Chipping Campden, with an abundance of walks over the surrounding countryside. Blockley's beautiful church, churchyard and vicarage are used for the filming of "Father Brown", a period BBC detective drama. The village boasts many other historic buildings including a converted water mill along the brook; a fabulous community run café and well stocked shop and two pubs within walking distance. Also nearby are Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, and Bourton-on-the-Water.

You’ll also be within easy striking distance of Cotswold hot spots Chipping Campden, Stow-on the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh and when you return to your home from home after a busy day, muted tones and restful interiors ensure complete relaxation.

Mid way between Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh, Blockley is one of the larger Cotswold villages and remains relatively unspoilt.
Like many of its Cotswold counterparts, the heritage of the village is firmly rooted in the wool trade but unlike others, following the decline of the wool trade, the village prospered thanks to the presence of silk mills supplying silk ribbon to the Midlands.
The handsome architecture means it’s very easy on the eye, the Norman church is particularly striking but despite being picture postcard pretty, there’s a real sense of community here too with the village shop being a community concern which is not only ‘open all hours’ but has a café that also opens Friday evenings for dinner – very civilised!
There’s a great pub (always a boon for self caterers) and a wealth of things to do and places to visit nearby with Batsford Arboretum, Cotswold falconry (and archery) and the gardens at being just a few.
There are an abundance of quintessential Cotswold villages and towns: Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Snowshill, Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Enjoy a evening at the Longborough Opera.
Explore the Chedworth Roman Villa near Yanworth.
Admire the stunning Blenheim Palace and Gardens, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
A great day out for the whole family:Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park.

Blockley is a perfect location to explore the Cotswolds. Well stocked community shop and cafe and great waljs from the doorstep. Not overrun with tourists! Little Shrublands was a delightful and well equipped house and wd felt very comfortable in it. We visited in November so were unable to take advantage of the conservatory/dining room and lovely garden area but they would provide great extra space for summer months.

Positive points: The cottage is lovely and well equipped, the location is great for exploring the cotswolds and the area peaceful. Negative points: The beds are very uncomfortable, the mattresses need replacing and there are many spiders, some of them quite big.

This beautiful house was absolutely perfect for us from start to finish. The ease of booking, comprehensive instructions and warm welcome (the cake was wonderful - thank you), just arriving there was easy! The house itself is wonderfully maintained, and has everything we needed to make it feel like a 'home from home'. Close attention has been paid to the small details making a huge difference; instructions on how to use equipment from the washing machine to the TV, guest toiletries, tea and coffee - even the smell of the house was sublime. The bedrooms are a great size, with extremely comfortable beds and linens (please can you share where the mattresses are from?!). Situated in a lovely position in the village, sitting in the lovely garden listening to church bells and a donkey were novelties for us! Villagers at the local pubs and shop were very friendly and welcoming, and the local cafe was a real treat. Nothing to fault at all, I only wish we could have stayed longer - we'll be back next year. Thank you for making this such a great experience for us, you can see the hard work and love that you put into it.

This was an absolutely lovely place to stay, beautifully decorated, nice location, clean and good value. We stayed with a 2 year old and she loved that there was a park less than a 3 minute walk away. It was so well located for family days out too. We visited Birdland, Cotswold wildlife park and Warwick Castle, which our toddler loved.

We loved our stay, the house was so well appointed and having parking right outside was so nice. We loved Blockley and would recommend the area and of course this house. The kitchen had everything we needed, comfortable living room and the sun room is so cozy. Local restaurants we excellent and we took many long walks right from the house. We would come back in a heartbeat.

This is our favourite cottage after many years in the area and we always look forward to returning each October. The cleanliness is first class, there is ample cutlery, crockery and glass ware. The beds are very comfortable and ensure a good nights sleep.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Little Shrublands so much so we didn't want to leave. There were three adults and two children. We will definitely be recommending it and returning for our next visit to the Cotswolds. The house is so well equipped and beautifully furnished with a lovely private and well maintained garden. Being situated in a gorgeous village, it's the perfect location for a magical time spent exploring and enjoying the Cotswolds. If you're looking at this property as a potential place to stay, you won't be disappointed. Thank you Little Shrublands for the best accommodation.
