Charming villa, yet affordable, in Villefranche-sur-mer, the real Cote d’Azur.

The property was spacious and clean and was the perfect place to stay with friends.

It’s an beautiful old house with somewhat dated furniture but well equipped and with a lovely garden and amazing view. You can easily walk down to the beach and shops and with a bit more effort up again.

We stayed for two weeks in a typical France villa. A well designed house with southern aspects. Enough room for 8 persons . The view over the Villefranche Bay is extraordinary. Distance to the beach and harbour are 15 minutes. On the website the house was not correct situated. The furniture however is dated and several chairs and cutains are rickety or already broken. The kitchen as well as the bathrooms are not very clean. The direct contact with e- mail with the owner was satisfactory

Overall we had a good stay. The house is large, the beds are comfy, it was clean, there was plenty of kitchen equipment. The white goods worked really well. We found one chipped cup- I only refer to this because of a previous review that must be inaccurate. The outside spaces are great. The views are wonderful. It is relatively unmodernised, this is part of its charm and a reason why it is relatively affordable for the area. I would go again, but if in the summer would ask for fans. It was too hot to sleep due to an unexpected heatwave. We found a local beach we really liked, but due to the heat and Villefranche being on such a steep hillside we needed a car to get there and back. Jean Claude and Stephanie were very helpful. We had problems briefly with the electricity, and longer problems with the wi fi and TV. I think they could do with someone local who can fix things like this. But Jean Claude offered us sufficient recompense and was very pleasant about it.

Very disappointing, The location was not as described on the VRBO website. The location shown on VRBO was in the town, but the actual location was a long walk, uphill, from the town. - The property was described as an “8 minute walk” from the beach. According to Google maps it is a 15 minute walk (NOT 8 minutes), and up a very steep hill. A reasonable portion of the walk was along streets with no sidewalk. - The condition of the property was poor - There were only sheets for two of the four beds. This was not acceptable for our family of 4 people. - The kitchen was not very clean - The dinnerware and glasses were all chipped posed a hazard to use, particularly for our son - There was underwear on the floor outside the front door - The fridge was not clean, with half drank water bottles in it - There were no amenities (soap, shower gel, toilet paper etc). Anyone staying here should be prepared to go out and buy all the necessary cleaning supplies, including toilet paper. - The furniture was in poor condition and some was unusable because of wear and damage. - The TV and internet did not work., even though the property was advertised as having TV and internet available. The owner gave me a phone number and suggested I call the telecom company and have it fixed - wow! - No one was available to check us in, the keys were left on a window sill. - There were no instructions on how to use anything in the house. Most places I have stayed at least have some basic information available. We did not stay in the house because of the above reasons. The owner has refused to issue a refund, or even to communicate with us.
