Unique City Pop Retreat 5 star Location, Game Room

Selten habe ich in einer so orginellen und mit Liebe eingerichteten Unterkunft gewohnt. Hier ist wirklich alles bis ins Kleinste abgestimmt - das traditionelle Haus (es war eine Udon-Suppenküche) wurde wahnsinnig stylisch renoviert. Wir sind erst einmal eine Stunde lang durchs Haus gelaufen, um die tollen Deko-Objekte zu bewundern. An alles wurde gedacht, wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt - und unser Sohn hat sich besonders über die Retro-Nintendo-Computerspiele gefreut.

Leider konnten wir in der Umgebung keine Mietfahrräder finden - entweder waren sie alle ausgeliehen oder es gab nicht vier auf einmal. Ein Wunsch für die Zukunft: Es wäre natürlich klasse, wenn es in der Unterkunft auch Leihräder gäbe, um den Ort und den See zu erkunden, da es wenig öffentliche Verkehrsmittel gibt.

We couldn’t really find anywhere local to eat everything seemed to be closed after like 9PM. They have a booklet with recommendations for bars/ places to visit etc. Would be really nice to see restaurants in there also

Where do I even start. Our host gave us clear information about our stay, location, and entry. With any question we had, we received a prompt reply. The check-in, check-out process was smooth and painless. The house is just a 2-minute walk from Gekkouji Station. We received a complimentary wine from the owner, which was a really kind gesture, and we really appreciate it. Now about the house. For me, it was an unforgettable experience to spend a night in a traditional Japanese house. For my girlfriend, who is Japanese, while she is accustomed to similar experiences, it also made a big impact, as you can truly feel the love that was put into this accommodation from top to bottom. Every room, every corner is filled with something interesting, funny and nostalgic. The vinyl player, which works perfectly with an ample amount of records to choose from, made me feel like I'm in a movie. The Nintendo, with tons of games to play on an old CRT Sony TV, took me right back to my childhood. We played a couple of rounds of Mario Kart, which was lots of fun. And then the game room! The game room is hiding behind the shoji screen, right next to the TV. Having an arcade inside a house is truly an above and beyond gesture, hats off to the owner. While I can't say I was any good at Mortal Kombat, overall it was an amazing experience which crowned our stay. At night it got a little bit cold, so we turned on the gas heater in the living room. The subtle scent coming from the gas heater has taken back my girlfriend to her childhood. Fair to say that the house could easily accommodate multiple people as there are multiple bedrooms. While the walls are thin in these traditional houses, all the blankets we had made the cold night a non-issue. The house is also pretty close 15-20 minutes walk to Arakuyama Sengen Park to see Mt. Fuji from Chureito Pagoda. Once again, thank you for letting us experience your home, it was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
