We enjoyed the spacious futon room and the comfortable dining room. It is close to the train station, so getting anywhere is quite easy, good location.

From the photos and reviews, we thought we would have a great stay, but honestly it was way below our expectation. First, we realized they didn't provide an umbrella. Not a big deal, but it's a nice touch we found in all other stays. Second, there's no sink for washing face, brushing teeth and no mirror. This seems really odd, considering there's 2 bathrooms. One of the bathroom showers was leaking and the host was aware BEFORE our stay. There's no towel hangers anywhere in the house - again, really odd and uncomfortable. Also, there's nowhere to place/store our bathroom amenities. Third, we stayed at other typical Japanese houses and all have the same issue - no blinds/curtains to block the sunlight, which makes it difficult sleep after 5 AM. After that time, the train starts running past the house frequently, which can be loud and disturbing for people with light sleep. And lastly, the host strict check-out was what really impressed us, negatively. We asked for a couple of hours to manage our transit to Tokyo smoothly, considering we have a baby, which was rejected. They could only accommodate until 11 AM, PAYING, even though they had no bookings for the following night. Not the kind of hospitality and support we got used to expect in Japan.

The house was beautiful, clean and spacious. We slept in futons, a very interesting experience.

Although the house was BEAUTIFUL, it was not that functional. The kitchen was huge but poorly and weirdly equipped. Tons of chopsticks and forks, but no knifes to accompany the forks. Only very small plates. The refrigerator froze ALL our veggies and we had to throw them away. There are no mirrors in the whole house and no hand washing basins (we washed our teeth in the kitchen). The house is full of weird stairs and steps and low door frames on which we knocked our heads multiple times.
