A great base for exploring Newark - just needs a few finishing touches to make it outstanding!

The apartment is fabulous. It is half of the top floor of a renovated warehouse right on the river, with amazing views. The location is perfect, and access to Newark and its many pubs and restaurants couldn't be easier - not more than 5 minute's walk. The apartment has been fitted out to a very high standard, and extremely tastefully. The exposed beams and brickwork blend well with the high quality overall. It is, as described, very spacious, especially the kitchen dining and seating area.

Despite stating that we would be arriving at 3pm, and receiving a confirmation email that said someone would be there to meet us, the local agent did not arrive until almost 3.45, as she had not been alerted to our arrival. We tried calling the telephone number provided, but that was a London number, so not too helpful. The local representative was very apologetic, and said that she had had similar issues before. The cutlery provided is really cheap, and not at all in keeping with the overall standard of the apartment. A decent canteen of cutlery would be a good investment. Because of the style of the building, there are issues with condensation. To combat this there are several dehumidifiers in the apartment. These are well past their useful date, and full of water. They, too, need replacing. Despite having a large seating area, and being laid out as an apartment for four, there is only a single two-seater settee, and one armchair. One of our party had to sit on a dining chair. Finally, the property manual tells you to put any rubbish in the bin area, which is on the ground floor. However, the manual neglects to tell you that the bin area is behind a key-coded door, the code for which is not revealed, so we had to ask the gentleman who runs the barber's shop on the ground floor. All of the above really is a shame. This is, as I say a fabulous place to stay, but the final details are sadly lacking.
