La Casetta di Pino

Beautifully decorated apartment with magnificent view. The apartment is very spacious and solidly built. The view from the large balcony was wonderful. No air conditioning but powerful fans were present and the shutters were effective in keeping the accommodation cooler. There is a garage but parking a larger car (mid-size SUV) in it was too tricky, but as the apartment is at the end of the row, one could park in front of the garage. The walk into Varenna was a solid 30min and return quite steep, but a lovely walk past 2 water falls/streams. There is a route where you mainly walk parallel to the main road on pedestrian pathway past the houses.

Despite keeping the host informed about our arrival time, she was not there to meet us and I had to phone to let her know we were there. "will be with you in 10min' turned out to be 20 min - not ideal when you have already been on the road for several hours. Having said that ,the host was very friendly and helpful and communicated well in English. Between the apartment and the lake there is a railway line and you do have some noise from the trains but we did not find that all that disturbing (they do not run often and not at night that I was aware of).

This place exceeded our expectations. The place is absolutely a dream - the pics don't do it justice. It has easily become one of my favorite accommodations. The tranquility of the place, the terrace overlooking lake Como, the friendliness of the people.. We cannot wait to come back! We travelled with our 2 medium dogs and the apartment is very big, lots of natural light, lots of space to move. The bed was really comfortable and the bedroom is facing the same lake view. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed (we did travel with our own olive oil, salt, pepper etc. but they had some spices at the apartment). You need to check-in via a website beforehand, to upload your documents & pay tourist tax. We knew this is how accommodations require check-in in Italy, so it was no problem. There is only 1 restaurant in this village - I recommend booking in advance, our host was SO LOVELY to help us book dinner there (shout out to Oscar and Oscar's mother, lovely humans!). The restaurant has fantastic food, and an amazing view. It is just 2 minutes walk from the apartment. Oscar's mom was the one to hand over the keys and she was so lovely with us. We speak a bit of italian so that helped - she even came the night before we left to say goodbye, it was so thoughtful! Parking is on the premises - we left our car at the accommodation throughout our stay. We instead walked to Varenna (only 30 min walk) and we highly recommend that because it gets very crowded). Honestly, we cannot wait to return to this place. Thank you for everything!

Il personale è stato estremamente gentile e disponibile, facendoci sentire subito a nostro agio. L’ambiente è molto pulito e curato nei minimi dettagli, cosa che abbiamo apprezzato tantissimo. La posizione è davvero eccellente, comoda per raggiungere facilmente le principali attrazioni. Consiglio questo posto con grande piacere e sicuramente torneremo!
