Urban View - Main Square Gate Apartment

Apartment was large, plenty of space. Washing machine was provided as well as detergent, but no dryer - you have to hang dry the clothes on the rack on the balcony so make sure you plan to allow for at least 8-12 hours for everything to dry, you can't do a last minute laundry load. Air conditioning worked very well. Location can't be beat, 5 minute walk to the Alexander The Great statue / central square / stone bridge, another 5 minutes from there into Old Town. If you're a foreigner and can't get the Macedonian rideshare apps to work with a non-Macedonian phone number, the Holiday Inn 2 blocks away is a well known landmark in the city and always has several taxis waiting there. Host is very responsive. Tons of extra blankets and pillows are provided including a memory foam pillow. Area felt very safe, had no problem walking around at night, only 2 blocks from the main tourist area. Resident in the next door apartment was very friendly when I met her in the elevator on my last day. Very reasonable rates.

The biggest problem here is cleanliness, especially in the bathroom. All of the windows in the apartment were open when I arrived, so ample opportunity for bugs to get in. Bathroom had a sizable dead bug on the floor, multiple dead flies on the windowsill. Shower mat desperately needs to be replaced. Bar soap from a previous guest was left in the shower. Small flies would land in the sink within 30 seconds every time I turned the water on (presumably had gotten in while the windows were open). Sheets on the bed had some light stains on them. Basically the host really needs to fire their cleaning team and hire a better one. A fly trap somewhere in the bathroom probably wouldn't be a bad idea either. I will also say that all the other reviews say it was clean for their stays, so it's possible my experience was just a fluke. Beyond that, admittedly the outside of the building looks very run down and covered in graffiti, but the area itself felt very safe - just be aware that the outside may appear off-putting if you're from somewhere more aesthetically well-kept. All in all, I would stay again if the owner got a better cleaning team in there. I would even suggest the owner raises the rates by a few dollars a night to pay better cleaners, it would be a near perfect place then.

Huge apartment exactly as shown in the photos. It’s only a 10 min walk to Macedonia Square and 15 mins to the old bazaar. It’s on the top floor (level 6), but there is a lift which was great.

Nu a fost curat, blocul vechi, liftul vechi, prosoape patate, recipiente utilizate de gel de dus. Soferul recomandat de proprietar a intarziat o ora la aeroport, masina era mica si murdara. Tot soferul ne-a cazat in apartament, rugandu-ne sa ramana o persoana la masina pentru a nu plati ticket de parcare.
