Kurdistan Canyon View Hotel

Everything! It was incredibly clean. It sits on the edge of the Canyon and the views are spectacular. The property is very quiet as is the surrounding area and the way that it was built insulates you from road noise. The owner was incredibly hospitable as was his entire family. We felt very welcomed, and the location was excellent.

I honestly can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this place yet – it’s an absolute hidden gem in the Middle East. I stayed here during my last trip to Iraqi Kurdistan and it 100% was the highlight of my 2 week trip. Next time I’m staying here for a week! The hotel is perched right on the edge of a canyon, and my room had a balcony which literally was on the canyon cliff - the most breathtaking view of my life. I literally watched the sun rise over the mountains from bed. The light pouring into the canyon in the early morning was surreal – something I’ll never forget. The hotel itself is quite new, with nice modern amenities and a clean design. For the location and the views, the price felt cheap. These views alone are priceless! Breakfast was another huge highlight – everything was local and organic, with products from all over Iraq. What really made the stay special though was the family who run the place. They were so welcoming and genuinely warm. You can tell they care about every guest who walks through the door. I’d really recommend getting in touch with them before your trip – they helped me organise hikes with local guides and day trips around the Rawanduz and Barzani area that I would never have discovered on my own. Their local knowledge made all the difference! If I knew these guys were such experts, I would’ve had them arranged all my travels around Kurdistan. If you’re considering coming – do it before this place becomes well known. It still feels like a secret. An absolute gem. I’m already planning my return trip.
