North Lodge

Beautiful historic building. Great place for us to hide away for a few days.

It's a really old building, so water pressure in the shower isn't ideal, but that is to be expected.

In a fabulous location just a minute's drive from the A1, this is a historic lodge in the grounds of Knebworth House. The beds were really comfortable with good quality bedding. We were not kept awake by traffic on the A1.

The kitchen had less cookware, crockery, and cutlery than similar places we have stayed. The lounge is pretty small - we had two grandchildren with us, but you would really struggle with 5 adults. And we had trouble sitting at the table squashed next to the sofa.

Lovely lodge seeped in history. It was clean, comfortable and well laid out with a full range of amenities. The sofa in particular was really comfy. You can tell everything that was provided was quite new and well taken care of. Communication with the host was great, they're very friendly and helpful, and check in instructions were clear. I can imagine a winter night being really cosy with the log burner and wood that was kindly provided, it's a shame we were staying in a heat wave! Would recommend!

One recommendation for the host would be to provide outdoor furniture so you can enjoy the garden on a warm sunny evening. However the adjacent A1 is very audible, and when guests leave the site on an evening the sound of cars going over the cattle grid is very noticeable. We almost got trapped trying to leave the property on foot as the gates only seem to open for cars and there is no keypad on the inside. Luckily someone was driving in as we were trying to get out otherwise we might not have managed to leave! All this is minor though in comparison to how lovely the place and facilities were.
