Cosy Retreat Near Mairangi Bay

Lovely location about a 1 km from the beach

good location, only about 15 mins from Auckland CBD. The house was easy to find and located in a quiet neighbourhood. There's some parking on the street.

The positive side to this retreat is the host was friendly enough and allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated and apart from the down side of things the bed was comfortable, as was the pillow

The cleanliness of this stay was very undesirable. It could definitely do with a deep clean. There was a large amount of cobwebs and spiderwebs throughout the room, behind the blinds especially. The bed had just a bottom sheet and duvet. No mattress protector or top sheet. There was only one single disposal towel which was much like a giant paper towel for showering. We chose not to shower. There was no toilet brush for when nature calls. The sinks had pink mould like sludge around the plug and the tap wear had goodness knows what all over them. The dishes were still on the bench and stuff in the washing machine which we were asked not to touch. Overall we got what we paid for, very basic. Thankfully it was only one night. I feel bad for such a bad review but its what it is. I'm not sure I'd call this a retreat. I think the owners need to look a little more into who they've got cleaning the room. A couple of pictures on the wall or a full length mirror might be a nice touch too.

Very low cost compared to other properties in the area, friendly and attentive hosts. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and beach.

It is very basic accommodation but no surprise given the very low price, so good value for money if you are looking for no frills accommodation

Very comfortable bed, handy having the bathroom and kitchenette right beside the room for my sole use & off street parking.

No towels or shower mat, or bowls/cutlery and some household noise in the evening.

This place was in an ideal location for my visit to Auckland. It's only 10 minutes to get back onto the motorway, but the street is lovely and quiet. The hosts were friendly and prompt with their communication. I found the accommodation easily and felt safe staying as a solo traveller. The host and their family were very nice. The bed was comfortable, and the room was warm and spacious, with a double bed, bedside drawers, and storage rack for my suitcase and space to hang my clothing. Bonus for having access to own private bathroom and kitchenette with kettle and fridge to use inside the home. Nice and close to some nice beaches and shops. Would absolutely recommend for those who are looking for an affordable base while exploring the North Shore etc.
