The breakfast offered variety and beauty with delicious vegetables, homemade pickles, tofu, fish and eggs from an experienced and creative chef, with tea grown locally. Do not miss the optional (extra charge) dinner which is better than those in big city restaurants. The inn location offers beautiful views and immediate access to lovely country strolls. The hosts share their love of the area, their knowledge of tea farming, and creative ideas such as tours of the nearby tea fields, and a hot bath soaking in fragrant local green tea.
Offer smaller-size slippers as well as large. The in-house slippers are all one size, large for smaller feet, making it difficult to climb the steep stairs to the second floor for big slippers fall off as you step.

From start to finish, we had a wonderful time at Osugi-ya. The hosts were amazing at being their fantastic selves: kind, funny, generous, knowledgeable about the area, and the delicious food and teas they served. Kudos also to the talented chef! Our tatami room was cozy, quiet, and clean. The shared spaces were well kept and clean. Loved the Showa era vibes. We truly enjoyed our time at Osugi-ya and hope to visit again in the near future!

This place is one of the best experiences I had on booking.com. The village is beautiful, the ryokan is very unique and the hosts are really kind. Remember to reserve the obanzai dinner, it was a great experience!
The fact I stayed one night only. If I could, I would have stayed several days :)
