The Hive

Very centrally located in Woodquay Spacious Close to lots of pubs and restaurants and shopping center with big Tesco less than a ten minute walk

Facility was clean but a little dated Nothing major to my mind, but some folks might like more modern accomodations

The Hive is a great option for staying in Galway. The host was quick to respond, and gave very detailed instructions on how to get in, so there was no stress on our end. The apartment is well-maintained, and the location is fantastic - being able to walk to everything in Galway is perfect.

Parking can be a little difficult in the city, but this is not the fault of the host - we parked at the Cathedral lot, which worked well and was a pleasant walk.

Central location

The apartment and appliances were clean.

The apartment we were given was not what was shown on Booking.com. The apartment itself was really cute but getting to it was a nightmare. We had to drive down a narrow one-way street, try and offload heavy suitcases and bags at door on street with given code. This did not work. Called Host who directed us to another door around the corner with another code. Then through the door and across uneven concrete and up 2 levels of outdoor stairs to apartment. Once through that door, up another flight of stairs to lounge and bedroom. Second bedroom door in kitchen and up another flight of stairs. Too many stairs, not mentioned on Booking.com.. I am 62 years and my husband 69 years who had a knee restructure and struggles with climbing stairs. Had I known, I wouldn't have booked. No secure parking on-site, so another issue with a hired car. Called Host to ask for something on lower level or alternative accommodation and explained husband's bad knee and his struggles with climbing stairs but was told nothing could be done and to take it up with Booking.com. Very disappointing especially when it was not properly advertised. We had no other option but to slowly work our way up to apartment. It is well situated but really noisy night time as it's directly above a Chargrilled Turkish Kebab shop that closes at 2am and other restaurants opposite. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable. Had to use the 2 spare duvets over mattress to cushion it. The pillows were also very tired and may need replacing as they were thin and flat. Frying pans have teflon coating badly peeled off.
