A real boutique hotel experience, finally a true asian experience in Phi Phi

A real boutique hotel experience. The best hotel we had in Thailand in 3 months of boutique hotel hopping. The rooms are full of Asian art and soul. Our room was magical, with an L-shaped bathroom, a walk-in brass shower, a hand-painted Thai ceramic sink, and a collection of Indonesian and Thai fabrics. The room has a beautiful balcony with vintage bamboo blinds and big hand made chinese lanters with soft light which makes you feel you are in a movie. The attention to detail, the service from the hotel staff, and the vintage Asian concept really went above our expectations. It truly feels like travelling in Asia in the 70s. The room has a free selection of hand-picked wild tea blends from northern Thailand (we took the supplier's contact because it was too good), along with a traditional Chinese-Thai teapot and cups. The aircon is cold and the shower pressure is good. The mattress is great and you see they made an effort to go and extra mile and added a topper and gave different types of pillows (soft feather and memory foam ones). We had no issues at all, no mosquitos just really great sleep. We highly recommend staying in this magical place, it will give you an incredible perspective on Asian culture, design, and customs. To have found such a gem in Koh Phi Phi feels somewhat impossible. I tip my hat to the creators of this amazing space.

Nothing, everything was perfect. Previous review complains from the wet floor in the bathroom is because of a walk in shower design which is standard in Asia and dries out in 10 minutes. No mosquitoes, Aircon was cold and silent.

For the value of the money, this hotel is a poor choice. The lobby looks nice and the staff are helpful, but that’s where the positives end. The room is small, not very clean, has nowhere to hang clothing, and the shower is old and worn out. The pillows were also extremely uncomfortable. On top of that, we encountered a couple of cockroaches in the room, which was extremely unpleasant—especially at this price point. I would not recommend staying here.

This place is really special. A vibe like no other!

This place is really something special! The vibe that they've created at Hokma is truly something worth going out of your way for. The music is incredible with a new selection of songs to groove to each night which really sets the tone for the evening. The decor is fantastic, you could easily spend an evening just perusing the endless assortment of beautiful artwork, posters, furniture, clothes, knick knacks, or artifacts that adorn the space. And the cocktails are world class! Rather than stick to my usual list of regular drinks I let the owner Matthew take the wheel and make suggestion for me. After asking me a couple of questions about the types of drinks I like, he started making cocktails that were out of this world! The creativity was really what stood out and it was exciting to see what he could come up with next. Almost like having a Michelin star private chef he would remember what I had had up to that point and continued to build an entire experience rather than just a list of drinks, with each drink building off the previous one, and complimenting the one that would come next. He even made me a couple of cocktails he was still developing which were all incredible. The passion oozes from every detail and corner of Hokma starting with Matthew and cascading down to all the other employees who are all just as awesome. They are the social lubricant and you can't help but get sucked into their aura. Before you know it you're playing board games with strangers, having fun conversations with other travelers, playing pool with a kitty, or just vibing while everyone has a good time. This feels less like a hotel or lounge and more like chilling at the home of a great friend you haven't seen in years. They are also 420 friendly if that's your vibe. I've never seen anything like it and I doubt I ever will again. Even if you don't happen to be staying here, make sure to at least pop in for a drink or two.

Quiet and cozy oasis in the busy part of Ko Phi Phi

Very central and extremely friendly personnel. Cool and very welcoming interior. The owner of the hotel has a lot of knowledge about the island, is very generous and gives great advice. I highly recommend staying here (and not in the other run-down hostels on the island).

Would rather walk a mile than stay here and smell cat urine all night.

Location was good and you could walk from the pier.

Room smelled like cat urine and did not seem clean. Towels were cheap and they turned the air off when we left the room so it was extremely hot. Would not recommend this to anyone and not worth the price.

No communication and poor value for money

This hotel had a good location, it was next to some restaurants and cafes and was super close to the pier. If you’re wanting to be in a bar until midnight, playing pool and drinking, this is the place for you.

However. We felt it wasn’t as described. We completely understand there is a market for late night music and an appreciation of the art etc. But! When travelling with just my partner, we were wanting a relaxing beach trip, not late nights drinking, and so we felt it was not as described - as ‘boutique hotel’. Music was on at the bar downstairs until midnight every night. Even though we were told it closed at 11.30. (this wouldn’t be a problem if it was advertised, or if there wasn’t so many other negative things) The ‘city view’ was just rusty building roofs (again, not a problem if it hadn’t been advertised as ‘city view’) The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. It was rock hard, similar experience to camping on a roll mat - We both left with sore hips and ribs. We understand this is a culture thing, but in our three months travelling Asia this was the only one we really had trouble sleeping on. On top of this, there were cobwebs in the bathroom and the shower was cold. I have never left a bad review before, I am always more than happy to give people the benefit of the doubt. But this was the exception. For the price we paid, we expected a hotel - not a room above a bar. I would also recommend reading the hosts replies to any bad reviews they receive - we wish we had before we booked!

Best cultural experience and hospitality in our 2 months travel in Thailand!

A real vintage boutique hotel! Very clean rooms and cold air-conditoning. Staff is very attentive and always happy to help also for tours and activities on the island. Shower pressure is good, and its a brass shower! I loved the antique room design and furniture, makes it feel like you are staying in a vintage Thai hotel in the seventies. The lounge downstairs has a vintage store with loads of cool unique souvenirs, a pool table, Nintendo switch and a sushi cocktail bar. The bar closes around 11.30 which is great as you can get a nice night sleep but still enjoy the lounge vibes with the other cool guests

Quality, cosy, beautiful, pleasant, chill, interesting and last but not least fun

I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want to stay in a place made by people with passion for fun and attention to detail this is the place for you. The cosy lobby coupled with the amazing music and the hospitality of the team made this the highlight of my trip to Thailand. I met amazing people at the bar i laughed and just had a good time. It's central so close to everything but far enough from the night life that you won't hear it but close enough to pop back to the room if you forget something. It wasn't only one of the best places in Thailand but one of the nicest places in the world to stay. Mostly due to the staff and their dedication to the concept and just respect for fun. I hope it makes sensce I still get emotional whe reminiscing XD.

An inspiring, perfectly curated hotel with welcoming staff and cozy rooms.

Hokma is such a gem in Koh Phi Phi. The lounge downstairs is gorgeous and Matthew, the owner is very welcoming. The rooms are also well designed, clean, and cool with good AC. The hotel is perfectly located, just 5 minutes away from the pier. We enjoyed cappuccinos upon arrival and delicious drinks at the bar in the evening. The vibe of Hokma is unmatched in Koh Phi Phi. Looking forward to visiting again soon :)

Smoking is permitted on the main floor which wasn’t a bother to us, but may disturb other guests. There isn’t any sound proofing so you can hear everything from your room.

Staying here at Hokma was such an experience! The rooms are new, very clean and perfectly priced, not massive but not small either - they have such a beautiful decor reminding you of vintage Thailand. Bedsheets are really nice, i asked and they are made of organic cotton from Chiang Mai. Bathrooms are quite spacious and funky! The downstairs lounge is just the perfect spot to chill during morning hours with a coffee, while flicking through their Asian art book collection. In the evenings the owners organize really fun gatherings play funky music and entertain you with all sorts of cocktails conversation, games and really push you to engage with local culture and other guests. They even have a pool table and for our evening they had organized a Burmese food tasting dinner making you try the more obscure dishes. The evenings finish before midnight so everybody can have a good sleep. Overall i must stay this was the best hospitality experience we had in our Thailand trip, i wish there were more places like this one

Leuke vintage vibe.

Leuke vintage vibe, cocktailbar, gemoedelijke sfeer en fijn personeel. Je krijgt een tas met handdoeken mee voor het strand. Goede airco op de kamer. Loopafstand van de Ferry en boten. Katten op de bar.

De badkamer was te donker en spiegel zeer laag. Scheren lukte niet met het licht. Douchen was koud bij mij en geen douchegordijn of afscheiding, veel water in de badkamer en rond toilet. Je moet zelf even trekker gebruiken. Onrustig geslapen door geluid en lichtval van buiten. De drankjes waren veel duurder dan we gewend waren. Zelfs duurder dan rooftopbarren in Bangkok.

Charmante Zeitkapsel jenseits des Mainstreams.

Sehr charmante Unterkunft mit vintage vibe. Die Ausstattung wurde mit Liebe zum Detail gemacht. Die Bar hat nicht nur hochwertige Cocktails, sondern ist auch ein Ort der Begegnung um in Kontakt mit anderen Weltenbummlern zu kommen. Wir waren nur für eineNacht und haben uns das Nightlife der Insel angeschaut und konnten unsere Eindrücke an der wundervolle Hotelbar mit leckeren Cocktails verarbeiten ;)

Wir hatten das chinesische Zimmer, welches sehr charmant war aber eher gemütlich klein. Wer mehr Platz benötigt aufgrund von Kindern etc. sollte vorher Bescheid geben.

Lokacija se nahaja sredi centra oz. sredisca dogajanja. Soba je bila okej, postelja s klimo in kopalnica. Soba je cista, brisace so, midva pa sva imela tudi balkon. Iz balkona je bil pogled na ulico, tako da sva imela vse pod kontrolo ☺️ Osebje prijazno, spodaj imajo zanimiv ambient, pred vhodom se sezujes. Spodaj v lokalu sva si privoscila tudi koktejl.. zelo zeloooo dober. Priporocam. Glasba naju ni motila, normalno sva zaspala in midva s tem res nisva imela problema.

Très bien pour un court séjour

Hôtel au style asiatique vintage plein de charme, avec une décoration soignée et de nombreux détails artistiques qui lui donnent un vrai cachet (c’est vraiment la chose qu’on a apprécié le plus donc bravo pour la déco). Ambiance cosy avec espace console avec Mario Kart, billard, salon ouvert, disques vinyles et même quelques chats en liberté. Peu de chambres, ce qui donne l’impression d’être dans une grande maison familiale. Chambre petite mais propre, dans l’esprit vintage, avec salle de bain fonctionnelle, clim et Wi-Fi efficaces. Personnel accueillant et flexible (late check-out offert). Par contre anglais assez limité.

Points à noter : assez bruyant la nuit, comme souvent sur l’île à cause des murs très fins et pas d’option petit-déjeuner (mais de nombreux cafés à proximité). Idéal pour 1 à 2 nuits, bon rapport qualité-prix dans son style

Ubicación inmejorable y sitio muy guay y moderno.

En primer lugar, concretamente el chico que nos recibio, italiano y joven, bastante maleducado. Daba la impresión de que era agradable con quien le convenía, porque si que se le veia simpatico con la gente del bar y etc, pero nosotros que nos hospedabamos ahi ni nos saludaba. Por otro lado, la musica que ponen, es cierto que es un bar, pero era un Lunes y estuvo la musica hasta las tantas (aproximadamente 1 am), y las habitaciones no estam absolutamente nada insonorizadas entonces se oye tood y es bastante molesto. Estuvimos en 2 habitaciones, y en una de ellas la ducha no tragaba el agua, por lo que se formaba una piscina en cuanto encendías el grifo; y se estropeó el aire acondicionado. Habitaciones comodas aunque, de las 2 que reservamos, una tenia silla y burro para colgar cosas y ordenar, y la otra solo una escalera que la verdad que no era muy practica, entonces igua se podria equilibrar un poco mejor para que en todas haya elementos donde ordenar la ropa. Los colchones tambien eran completamente diferentes, en una de ellas super blando y en la otra una tabla de madera practicamente.

Wir waren für 2 Nächte im Hokma und waren im Grunde zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt. Hier ein paar positive Aspekte: Unkomplizierter Check-in. Freundliches Personal. Sehr charmante Atmosphäre des Hotels. Zimmer war sauber. Top Lage. Klima funktioniert.

Ganz ehrlich für den Preis kann man nicht meckern, aber hier noch Dinge die uns negativ aufgefallen sind: Harte Matratze. Bis in die Nacht läuft laute Musik ( zumindest keine schlechte Musik ;) ).Kein Fön im Badezimmer. Kein Roomkeeping, also die Handtücher wurden nicht gewechselt.

Потрясающе красивый бар и отель. Винтажная мебель и детали. Все сделано с любовью. Очень приветливый персонал. Классные коктейли и кошка. Играет фанк. Вместо прогулок по острову сидели в баре и рассматривали книги по искусству и фотографии. Короче говоря, это место теперь навсегда в моем сердце.
