A good location for Beamish Museum but a bit tired.

Good location and parking facilities, good communication from owners.

Could do with a bit of a refresh and a more thorough clean. Could be improved with net curtains for added privacy, a coffee table in the centre of the living room and an extra side table in the main bedroom.

Worst booking.com property I've ever stayed in.

Location was fine, the house exterior is traditional and could be part of "cosy" property were the interior to complement it, which it doesn't.

Unfortunately, this was the worst property I've ever stayed in on Booking.com. It's three star rating is unacceptable when compared to similarly priced properties in county Durham. This property isn't remotely "cosy". It looks, sadly, like the previous owner has died or moved away, with the new owners throwing a lick of paint on the walls, radiators and doors all of which haven't been updated in 20-30 years. Much of the interior is cheap, grotty, grimy, dirty and dull, from the springy bed with hair in it, to the kitchen units with crumbs in, to the poorly fitted skirting board, carpet, damaged ceiling and walls with years of overpainted wallpaper. I don't think this property is fit for renting out on Booking.com and definitely not with a three star rating. We booked two nights here, stayed one night then left the next day booking somewhere else with the same rating but 100 times nicer, for a similar two night price. The place needs gutting and renovating. The most egregious thing is that the pictures of the property on the advert are extremely flattering. Once you enter the property, it feels like you're staying in a slum landlord's house. I apologise if this hits hard, but really, people shouldn't be paying to stay here, nor should Booking.com allow, unless for a lower a price.

Not for me.

Nice touches leaving milk and biscuits.

It wasn't not particularly clean, the pillows are likely years old 😬 thankfully I was only out of my house for some work being done. So was able to go back and get my own pillows. Some surfaces were not wiped down. Hairs in places. Downstairs carpet in living room, needs a proper carpet clean. I stayed out of there after first night. Bed had marks on it. Owner or someone who works for them had to come fix the heating while my stuff was in the house but I wasn't which made me a bit uncomfortable but too cold to not have heat. Has asked me to leave a review for a female but I only spoke to a male? I don't like leaving bad reviews for people making a living but on the whole the place needs a deep clean and new bedding/pillows etc. Someone came to fix the roof, but owner said he had no idea who that was. The guy knew tenants stayed in the house though as asked if I was the owner or just staying atm.

Warm comfortable well priced stay, would recommend.

The house was warm and comfortable for our family to stay for 4 nights and well priced. We stayed in the area as it was close to our family and we had a car. The host left milk and water in the fridge which was appreciated as well as washing detergent. The host was easily reached via messenger and prompt in their replies.

The beds are narrow but I think that’s more so we are used to a larger bed and the stairs are skinny and steep. Just to be aware of if you’re elderly but these are usual stairs for the age of the property.

The property had two good size rooms and was great for what we needed

Host left tea,coffee and milk and some biscuits - which was great after a 5 and a half hour journey as well as other things like shower gel etc.

Close to Beamish Museum. Spacious for a family of four. Clean. Bottle water, tea, coffee, milk provided. All utensils you would find in your own kitchen. Smart TV. Private car park drive. Good family dinnin table. Spacious bedrooms. Clean bathroom.

Could use with having hooks in the bathroom to hang bath ropes etc.

Great location and nice house.

Great location. The property was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. We did have a problem with the boiler, but the owner was there within 10 minutes to sort it out. Now that's fast! Our main reason for coming was for the Beamish museum which was amazing and only a couple of miles away.

Do not book

We couldn't stay the night had to book into a hotel. The smell was musty stains on the carpet. The fridge was disgusting. They had boarded up the back door ( which I'm sure is illegal! ) so only one escape route if there was to be a fire. The area of the property was rough with beer cans in the street. I certainly would not recommend

It was close to Beamish, which was where we were planning to visit. The price was low.

The house was in a not particularly nice area. It wasn’t very clean. The facilities within the house were basic. We couldn’t control the temperature of the house, I don’t think the thermostat was working. At least it was too hot, rather than too cold.
