Great location. Spotlessly clean. Well equipped kitchen.
Cosy and warm. Very comfortable beds. Nice decor. Parking permit
The wooden staircase was a bit slippery, and would have been better if it had grippers or carpet on it.

Great location, easy to walk into the main part of Bakewell to enjoy all it has to offer. A cute cottage with some lovely features and a huge bed in the master bedroom.
Heating wasn’t on when we arrived and despite following all the instructions in the manual it would not work which is not ideal in January, thankfully the fire did work which heated the main living area.
The stairs are also incredibly narrow, steep and slippy which should be included in the booking details as would be impossible for anyone with mobility issues.
Communication with host was poor, sent an early request about the property and never had any reply which was frustrating.
The parking permit for outside the cottage expired in 2025 which needs updating.

The property was a gorgeous cosy cottage with nice decor, very clean and it had everything you needed. The location was brilliant and we managed to park outside.
Found it really awkward to exit the stairs coming down at the bottom, would be quite easy to slip.

Super cosy cottage. Easy check in and close to local amenities.
Perfect for Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

Location was perfect, just a short walk into Bakewell with lovely shops and pubs. The cottage had pretty much everything required for our short stay and was lovely and cosy
We felt the communication with the owners was not up to standard. We were also told we could access the property at 3pm but was not given the access code until 4pm. This caused a bit of stress as we tried to contact both the owners and booking.com with no joy. This was not the first time we had tried to contact the owners without success

The cottage was so cosy and comfy. It was lovely and warm when we arrived. Lovely touches like blankets to snuggle with. Comfy beds. Kitchen and bathroom were very modern and impressive. It was christmas time and little christmas fairy lights made it more special. I would definitely stay here again if in Bakewell.
Not that I didn't like it but the stairs were slippy due to the nature of being polished wood. I had a 4 and 3 yr old so was more conscious of this, but they were just sent down on their bums.
It is up a steepish hill. Fine for us and obviously parking outside.

The cottage was really cosy and warm, the bed was really comfortable and living room and sofa was a lovely place to relax
Considering the price £170 for the night, it would have been nice to have a little bit of a welcome pack, some milk, tea bags, ground coffee etc and some basics like salt and pepper and oil, and perhaps even a few eggs, especially as there are not really any shops within walking distance.

The cottage is beautiful and very well presented. Spotlessly clean with comfortable furnishings and tasteful soft furnishings that enhance the ambience. Self catering is very easy in the modern, well equipped kitchen.
Very comfortable beds. Modern bathroom with a very efficient shower over the bath. Nice towels. The bathroom is downstairs which could present a problem for anyone needing to use it during the night. The stairs are quite steep and care needs to be taken.
The use of the resident parking permit to park outside the cottage is a definite bonus.
The location is great, being so close to the centre of Bakewell, albeit up a steep hill. Plenty of cafes, coffee shops, bars and restaurants in the town centre. Close to Chatsworth House and 10 miles from Matlock/Matlock Bath, and also close to Monsal Trail for walking and cycling. Plenty to do in the area so an ideal base for exploring.
Just wish we could have stayed longer - perhaps next time 😜
The stairs could be a problem for anyone with mobility problems and should be noted on the property details so that people are aware.

The fact that the property is managed remotely by an impersonal management company. I followed all the correct process but was not given my check in code to open the key safe box. I had to wait for over an hour to get a messsge from booking . Com. The property number was a remote message with an American accent.

Location and comfort
The stairs are quite tight , not for anyone with any walking issues , no essentials left like milk or a few teabags ,

Location, comfortable beds. Good facilities.
The steps were steep and had a very tight turn. Our elderly guest had to sleep downstairs. more cups would be of benefit.

The only thing that isn’t cheap about this property is the price.
This property is unsafe. There is a banister alongside the very steep stairs. I was taking my small lightweight case up and the first step I held on to the banister and it came away from the wall and I fell sideways. I am only 61 kgs by the way. When you pay a very high price and is labeled “ luxury” then this is what you expect.
You don’t expect cheap stained towels, cheap furniture and Nescafe as a coffee option. If the property is designed for 4 people, why do you have a toaster designed for 2 people
Another major issue was the electric hub that didn’t work. The reply clearly demonstrated that the lady in the call centre had no clue about the property was just guessing on how to fix the issue. It wasn’t resolved and I was told to use the microwave, I hate microwaves and have never used one in my life.
Other issues:
1.Normally a welcome back is left, with typically: a kitchen roll, a small sponge. Dishcloth, and so on. Nothing as supplied. We found a few DW tabs in a grubby pot
2. One toilet roll for 4 people.
3 Handwash dispenser with water in it rather than soap

The cottage has been sympathetically renovated and is beautifully presented. It is spotless and the fixtures, fittings, bed linen and towels are of excellent quality. I highly recommend Fable Cottage and only wish we could have stayed longer.

Nothing really
It wasn't luxurious. Bathroom downstairs very steep stairs and open plan stairs. No signal for WiFi. Had to make over 27 phone calls to try and get entry to the property and waited over an hour and half. Food debris in the grill. Couldn't watch tv as there was no sky box and the tv just kept whirling round the wheel of doom. Wheelie bins overflowing so couldn't sit in the garden. Stayed one night and had enough. Asked for a refund for our second night but still waiting. I explained my husband has cancer and I have arthritis and he needs to be near a Bathroom and we were not told it was downstairs. Really disappointed as we have been ignored because of the refund request.

The location was good apart from it being up a steep hill

Lovely property, made excellent use of all of the space, really comfortable with excellent views. The parking is a bonus, as is the excellent book collection!
Just be wary of the stairs! Typical of a property of its type though.

Very Well equipped, great shower, deceptively spacious downstairs.
The stairs are narrow and quite dangerous
The bed, even though comfortable, collapsed 3 times due to missing slats underneath and we had to fix it.
Anyone with reduced mobility would struggle here.
Sky box missing even though there was a remote control and instructions on how to use it

Finding the key was fine.

The living room was spacious for the whole family to sit together. All cooking facilities were available to cook a family meal and enjoy it together at the dining table. Great location, with everything in walking distance.
The super king bed was a bit soft, however this is only a preference.

De accommodatie was prima.
Harry, get rid of Hostaway! They ask personal data, don’t take action when I mail them that I wait for the cottage and don’t have a code. They don’t phone me to help me out. Luckily, I managed to find the code myself and helpful neighbours assisted in parking our bikes. Outside, internet doesn’t work, so one depends on direct contact by phone. Instead, Hostaway kept sending me the same useless messages , even after we left.

Perfect deceptively spacious cottage for a meet up with my two daughters and so close to town for breakfast the morning after and very accessible to chatsworth house. Brilliantly equipped accommodation
Knowing about parking permit and where a second car could be parked

The cottage was in a perfect position, but our experience was appalling, which Mark what would’ve been a lovely stay
When we went to bed on the first night we pulled back the bed covers only to discover the bed line and have been slept in before all the beds had pubic hairs body hairs et cetera on the sheets absolutely disgusting. We contacted the property agents who were less Fei about the situation they offered to send round cleaners but we were gonna be out that day, we didn’t get an apology until the very end which was all too late. I have never ever encountered this before.

The location is close to the town. The terrace house has nice furnishings.
Undisclosed dangerous steep stairs. Very difficult for taller people to navigate. The big bed collapsed (twice) when sat on due to plastic bendy slats under the mattress. Had to put it back together to sleep then not move! No toilet upstairs.

Kitchen was nice, plenty of “spread out space” with the extra sunroom. Location was very walkable to town. Communication was excellent!
Stairs are a bit dicey (small), would have loved to have had some paper towels and milk.

The cottage is very well modernised and equipped, but also remains the charm of it. Beds and pillows are comfy. Bathroom and kitchen are brand new. The bedrooms are on first floor and bathroom is on ground floor, so probably not easy for people who struggle on their feet.

Location albeit up a hill, we are walkers so we found this no problem. Parking was great, just outside the property. Overall the property was clean and comfortable.
The steep and narrow stair case at the bottom of the stairs was a problem for us in advancing years. The bathroom and toilet downstairs was another dislike for us. No instructions on how to use the Samsung main cooker.

Very homely, spacious and well appointed. It's a real home from home and we felt instantly at home here. Just a shame our stay is so short.
Nothing. Parking is a little tight on the street, but the cottage is lovely and so warm and welcoming.

Lovely cottage which is well equipped and just a short walk from the shops.
My only issue was the WiFi speed, it was very slow and kept on crashing which was really frustrating when I was trying to watch a film.
