Location was lovely
Old, full of mould that had been painted over, broken caffietiere, broken blinds, ancient cooker, PAT testing was out of date, smoke alarms did not work, fire extinguisher hadn’t been tested since 2022, bath was rusty.

The lodge is rustic and attractive. The location in the woods is nice. It felt quiet and secluded. Lamlash is lovely and is a good location to base yourself.
It was cold even in spring! The lodges are made of wood and don't appear to have any insulation. This means that they don't retain any heat. Because it is open plan, the main living area is quite large and it takes a long time to heat up. Given the lack of insulation the heat is lost very quickly so the lodge gets cold as soon as you turn the heating off.
Because the lodges are in a wooded area they don't get much sunshine so don't heat up much during the day. We often found that it was colder inside than it was outside.
It would probably be a welcome cool temperature on a hot sunny day but for the rest of the year on the cold side.

Location & cost
Cold & damp. Electrical safety (PAT certificate had expired). Poorly fitting front door letting draught in. Kitchen equipment of poor quality.

Lovely location, set just outside of Lamlash. Wooded area where the cabin was gave it a nice setting! The cabin was clean and the kitchen, whilst basic, did the job. Had a nice rustic feel and when the heaters got up to speed it was really cosy.
The electricity meter ate coins like it had never been fed! I'd say you need a minimum of £15 per day in pound coins to ensure you have enough heat and light! They only provide £5 per day during 'summer' months. We also only had two towels provided for three people but luckily one person brought their own!

The location was nice. It was peaceful and there were no noisy neighbours. There was a small shed with games and dvd's you can take back to the lodge and use.
We arrived (early february Thurday evening approx 7pm and left Monday morning 9am)and the lodge was in complete darkness, not even a porch light which is needed to find your way up the weathered steps to the front door and it was freezing cold when we entered. The lodge is fitted with an old £1 coin electricity meter which runs faster than a 45rpm record player which WE were never made aware of. Taking a 40mins walk to the local coop to get £1 coins before we could even sit down to put electricity in the lodge. It took over an hour to get heat in the place as the heaters supplied are totaly inadequate for the winter. Later in the evening the caretaker arrived and supplied us with £32 towards the electricity. This was nowhere near enough to cover the cost. We spent 2 hours in the morning and the evening in the lodge and spent the entire day out. This would be a total of 16 hours for our stay... the total cost of the electricity was £72 and we couldn't even have the hot water on because of the cost. That's £40 from our pocket AND we had to buy 2 blankets to keep warm in bed another £45. Definitely not value for money.
This accomodation would be great in the summer when you wouldn't use the heating but it's not a winter equipped place to stay.
It is in desperate need of some TLC and upgrading and some investment.

Loved the location of this property, it’s one of the higher up lodges, you don’t feel like there’s anyone around you, it’s a great lodge to stay to get away from everything
The lodge is cold, but there’s heaters throughout the lodge
