The property was in a beautiful location just outside of Lamlash, in a nice and secluded woodland. Furthermore the staff were very friendly and helpful when we had an issue getting the shower to run.
The property was very cold and damp - due to the electricity running on pounds in a meter, which was not stated in the description, it became very expensive if you wanted to keep warm, especially in November when we stayed!

Location was great. Lodge setting great.
Hidden cost of running the electric meter.. This ruined stay as was afraid to use any eletricity/facilities. From Wed 9pm - saturday 10am spent £45 feeding thw meter to have just a small heater, television and table lamp on!!!
The weather wasnt the best but that cant be helped.

The lodge was clean and tidy and had all the necessary equipment for our stay.
We did not have high expectations given some of the reviews and we were not disappointed. The overall feeling of the lodge was cold and damp. The damp smell hit you as soon as you entered the lodge. The electricity is provided by a meter that you need £1 coins for. We only had one heater on and were out for most days and the electric still cost over £60 which kind of negates the value for money. Other points to keep in mind...there is a walk from the carpark up to most of the lodges. While this wasn't an issue for us if you have any issues regarding mobility keep this in mind. Finally the owner did not respond to our messages about a leaking pipe (see photos) and when we questioned the fact that electricity was not included in the price at the time of booking was basically told 'what do you expect for the price you are paying '.

Lovely setting well equiped kitchen pet friendly
It was not at all accessable all 3 of us have mobility issues and it was a long trek up to our lodge over rough and uneven ground and steps and no mention of this when we booked otherwise i would not have booked, when we got into the lodge it had a very strong musty damp smell it really was bad .
They said electricity was5.00 per day we had only been in the property 1/2 an hour when the meter went out so we put in 8.00 we put the heaters on as it was cold and also damp 3 hours laser meter went out so we put in another12.00 so in 3 hours we had put in 20.00 i messaged sykes to make them aware and so far no response from the owner , we put almost 80.00 in the 5nights we were there.
When we got into bed the bedding was damp and very cold as were all the towels all our clothing picked up the damp smell even the toilet rolls were damp so were the rugs on the bedroom floor .
We couldnt even go out for a meal at night as there was no lighting along the path which was to dangerous to try and get up and down it was bad enough in daylight .
Everyday we were scrabbling around trying to get enough pound coins for the meter as it eats them like a child with sweets we only put on heating in our elderly parents room and the living area . The lodge needsa proper heating system upgrade as dose the electric meter and it needs drying out completly to get rid of the damp ,it was so damp bathroom door would not close along with cupboard in the kitchen .
Its such a shame as it has huge potential if it was properly looked after and the ground maintained .
I Just want to make People aware the only accessable lodge at dyemill is the fiirst one also the balcony is not enclosed

the location was absolutely beautiful, opening my window every morning into the woods was stunning. a rabbit came right up to the front door which was magical, it felt like a fairy tale. I liked the layout and the cabin design. my twin bed was exceptionally comfortable.
it was cold and i thought paying for the heating/ electricity on top of the base payment felt quite stingy. definitely wouldn’t stay there in the winter as it would be absolutely freezing. the design and appliances are old fashioned but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. also we had informed the owners there would be three people staying there but we only received enough towels for two.

Loved being in the woods very spacious cabin
Bed hard but comfortable
Has everything you would ever need
5 x £1 coins were left for electric meter with a note saying to replace yet advert said it was all included
We had to go find £1 coins through the day to replenish the ones we used which was frustrating
Also needs a deep clean and airing as a bit of a musty smell
However that said we loved it

Staff exceptionally rude, confrontational (upset my children) and unhelpful.

Avoid!! Riddled with damp, had to leave after 20 min as did not want to subject my baby and husband with breathing conditions to such a health risk. Owner is rude and arogant hanged up on us twice claiming he was upset about the situation and refused to give us our money back. Sykes cottages is not communicating at all either. The worst hospitality encounter in my lifetime. Will be taking him to court he can't keep getring away with scamming people with such a place wouldn't let my dog stay in it!!

The location was great, more than 15mins walk from Lamlash as stated, but a good walk. Comfortable enough.
Facilities such as shower and mattress/pillows could be updated. The coin meter is dated and not good value.

Clean chalet, comfortable, good facilities
oven worked well. Most things worked ok.
Good notice board with plenty of good info. Great location if you have a car. Very peaceful and quiet place
Heaters worked well as did the TV. Good selection of DVDs
Coin operated electric meter. £5 a day didn't last very long. Tariff was a bit steep.
Need to tell people in advance it is coin operated, so you can bring plenty of coins. One of the steps up to the chalet, was very steep, needs to be improved. Needs a bit of maintenance, bottom oven door stiff to close and rubber seal on oven loose. No cold water in the kitchen. Windows stiff to open
