Tonnau Yr Oleu or Waves of Light

Great location. Superb views of the bay and beach areas. Ideal for accessing all the local walks. Huge 4 bedroom property offering a home from home experience with loads of space and everything you would require for a holiday break.

Nothing really except to say the property is up a steep hill with limited vehicle access so you have to walk your luggage up to the building yourself although there is the option of utilising a local company to transport your luggage if you require. Being on a walking holiday this was taken as part of the daily walking routine. The spectacular views are well worth the walk.

Central for Barmouth and walks around Barmouth & the Mawddach Trail. The house was clean and well presented. The view from the house is sensational.

To enjoy this lovely house and location you do have a steep walk up to the house from Barmouth. You just need to be aware of this when booking. For us it was well worth the effort.

The views are amazing, the house is huge, so many rooms , the bed was so comfortable and the master bedroom with en suite was gorgeous with the free standing bath also the kitchen was perfectly equipped and spacious

The house is not for the faint hearted or elderly as the walk up to the property is nearly vertical and a calf killer and a real leg workout, also the TV in the lounge is tiny a bigger one would be much better so you can see it from the sofa, not being able to park near the property and carrying all the luggage up such a steep hill

Tonnau Yr Oleu is a fundamentally beautiful house. The view is special and the location is glorious. We even enjoyed the walk up the hill. Furthermore, there are some nice touches which helped us get the most of the place, such as the binoculars and painting set provided. Barmouth beach is wonderful and the town has a lot going for it.

The house is in a bad state of repair and parts of it are let down by a cheap and monstrously amateur fit-out. Although the bedsheets and bathrooms were clean, there was a lot of evidence of ingrained dirt and historic mould. There were mice in the kitchen. Several doors and windows did not open or close properly; one bedroom door jammed shut during our stay, trapping someone inside. Some rooms lacked basic furniture (e.g. bedside tables) and some light fittings had mismatched bulbs/ dimmers so buzzed continuously. I would have accepted all of the above without complaint were the property priced accordingly, but it was not. We paid a premium price for a poorly presented, shoddily maintained property and ended up feeling ripped off. Sykes Cottages need to do better here. Overall, I have to congratulate whoever took the website photos for making the property appear far, far smarter than it really is.
