Shepherds Hut Near Exmoor National Park

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Cabin was perfect and the host was lovely.

The pictures were n the sight are deceiving,the property was damp and dirty and we could not stay in it,apparently it was cleaned two weeks prior to our stay,cleaning should have been done the day before,the owner was very uncooperative,and has not issued a refund ,indeed he has ignored my request

The images are deceptive. There is no garden or space to enjoy, the images show some space in the front of the hut but that is private and not accessible. I was not aware I was going to be in someone’s garden either. The cleanliness of the place is questionable and on reviewing the review booklet, another recent couple stated the same and the host responded in the booklet with no real acceptance for the review but rather, defensive response. In their defense though, there are many positive reviews in the booklet so I thought maybe it was a hit and miss scenario for us. We left 2 days earlier than planned as we were not comfortable and the bed was a sleeper couch with zero comfort. Apparently we are the first to state there is a problem with them bed… We were accused of using all of the toilet paper ( we used 1 and a half rolls in 3 days ) by the host after leaving the hut. At first I was not going to review because for some this is the perfect holiday retreat to hike etc but after the false accusations, I felt I will review. Again images are deceptive - and although it is beautiful, I don’t want to see someone’s washing lines as soon as I step out of the already cramped space with no real space to relax and unwind. Hate writing negative reviews but sorry, I will not be made to be someone I am not because I was uncomfortable in a space that was meant to form part of my birthday week away as well as part of my annual leave.

What a lovely stay! The place was quirky and surrounded by nature, peaceful and a great break from London. Our host was friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.
