St Margaret's Hope Backpackers Hostel

Kind host, great location, metres away fom a good shop and the bus stop, not far from the ferry terminal though walking between the road and the wall feels a bit dangerous. The little studio was so cozy. I loved the kitchen.

I missed the washing basin in the shower room, but I apreciate that there was not much room for it.

Lovely self contained room with everything you need. Very clean! Dog friendly too!

Firstly the name is slightly misleading because there is only one room (with ensuite toilet, shower etc). All very compact and warm. Location is something else - you have less than a minute's walk if you wish to go to a pub/restaurant (the Murray Arms), or the Post Office (in the other direction) and at most two minutes walk from the bus stop next to the Propellor on the Sea Front at St Margaret's Hope. Also the ferry terminal for the iconic Pentalina catamaran ferry is about ten minutes trudge along the sea road with your luggage. I would have no hesitation in booking this again, and in fact did make a booking for a relative for a few days later in the year.

The one thing I forgot to check was whether it had a washing machine. Important as I was there for about ten days. It doesn't but the people at the Murray Arms very kindly allowed me to use their washing machine free of charge and in return I would come along sometimes and have a pint or even a meal (the Murray Arms is considered to be a really good seafood restaurant in Orkney incidentally).

Lovely stay, very comfy and spacious, quiet apartment and easy to find the keys to get in. Close to everything! Thank you
