Mad Monkey Vang Vieng

I had heard this chain of hostels was great and when I stayed there I experienced that they live up to their great reputation. Excellent facilities, activities and events ready to help travelers mingle. I was impressed how clean and how consistent they are with enforcement of their house rules and policies. My only wish is there was a storage room for larger luggage. Everything else was fantastic

I stayed at Mad Monkey for 6 days, and overall, I had a really good experience. The location was great, and everything went smoothly during my stay. The only downside for me was the smell coming from the bathroom. Every time someone opened the door, the smell would spread into the room. Since it’s a mixed dorm and many guests enjoy drinking and partying, I guess that’s part of the experience. I knew I was booking a party hostel, so I expected some noise as well. If you’re a light sleeper, just be prepared that people will be having fun while you’re trying to sleep. I didn’t socialize much with other guests. Maybe because I wanted to spend my birthday celebrating on my own, or maybe I’m just a bit shy. However, I never felt awkward or uncomfortable. Everyone was respectful and minded their own business, which I actually appreciated. Mad Monkey has everything you could want from a party hostel: food, drinks, pool parties, tours, and social activities. They also have a group chat, which is very convenient if you need information, lose something, or just want to ask questions. I also loved the free coffee and juice available every morning from 7 AM to 9 AM. A special shoutout to the reception staff they were amazing. One day my shoes got dirty after hiking Nam Xay Viewpoint, and when I asked for a brush, they helped me right away. In fact, every time I needed something, they were always willing to help. I was also thankful because I received a 5% discount on the paramotor activity since it was my birthday. The current rate was around ***, and although I looked around for cheaper options, most places had increased their prices as well. The reception can help arrange transportation to the train station or airport, as well as tours and activities. They even told me I could look for cheaper options outside if I wanted to, which I appreciated. Overall, I had a great experience at Mad Monkey and will definitely miss my favorite potato dish! If you’re looking for a social, fun, and lively hostel with plenty of activities, this is the place for you.
