Ruby Mountain View Resort Vang-vieng

I absolutely loved everything about this place, I would love to stay here again! I spent three nights at Ruby, it had the best views of the mountains right from your room, and while you are just minutes walking distance from the main streets with restaurants and cafes, you avoid the noise from crowds and bars and the overall noise from the road. It was clean, comfortable and very peaceful. The best part was Mary❤️ at the reception, she is the sweetest girl and helped me figure out many things, including making me feel welcome and like home- will miss you Mary🥹Thank you for everything

Everything was perfect

The bed is very cozy, super comfortable. The place is very nice, even though it looked bigger in the photos. It has 2 balconies, front and back. The WiFi is a bit slow, max 10MBps, but surprisingly enough it was good enough for me to work from there, even to do calls using VoIP.

The bathroom is not like the photo and there is a big tree blocking the view. There is not much privacy in the the hot tub as the neighbour can see me from their balcony. Also there were a lot of bugs, not the hotel's fault, but be prepared. The mosquitos will be in the big windows trying to come in like zombies. Also saw a cricket, grasshopper, etc

The hotel is set back from the busy road & is quiet. A short walk to the centre of town. The room (family room) was spacious & we brought in the verandah chairs to sit on. It’s not a resort, despite the name.

We spent 2 nights. Breakfast is supposed to start at 8.00am. The a la carte menu has only a handful of options, it took about 45 minutes to come out even though we ordered at the kitchen right on 8am as we were being picked up for a tour & there were no other guests at the time. The next day, they insisted on taking the order for all 3 of us, only 2 of us were at the table. Only one pot of coffee is made for the morning, if you come late they just say it’s finished. Definitely don’t stay here for the breakfast. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom when we arrived & it lingered for over a day - we ran the bathroom fan, left the bathroom door open with the air con on nothing seemed to work.
