We had a lovely stay at this B&B. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and we really enjoyed the cooked-to-order breakfast the following morning. We stayed in the family room, which was surprisingly spacious considering it comfortably accommodated a double bed and two single beds. Everything was spotlessly clean and well looked after. A particularly thoughtful touch was having extension leads on both sides of the double bed, making it easy to charge phones and other devices overnight — something that’s surprisingly rare and very much appreciated, especially as I use my phone as a bedside clock. Overall, a comfortable, well-thought-out place to stay and we’d happily return.

Met by the owner on arrival: check in, payment etc smooth, shown room and facilities - all seamless. Room and en suite clean, linen etc all as you would expect. Lovely breakfast, beautifully presented.

We stayed for 5 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Sally and Paul were perfect hosts, friendly and chatty. The room was clean and well equipped. The location was great, not too far from the centre or the attractions but nice and quiet. Only had breakfast once but it was delicious. Everything was clean and we had all we needed. Definitely will be booking again when we can

For the most part this is a truly excellent family run guest house and I can definitely recommend this spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and well appointed place to stay in the quiet residential area of the town. The house is located midway between the town centre with its public transport interchange and the seafront with its attraction and beach both are about 10 to 15 minute walk away.

A fantastic stay and fully equipped family room with comfort and sophistication. The girls loved the very strong and sturdy bunk beds as well as the chaise longue by the window. Location is perfect, 10 min walk to the Amusements and beach. Breakfast was first class and cooked to perfection! Thank you for a great stay, we would most certainly recommend and return.

First time at the Kingmere. I will come again. Friendly and helpful owner, lovely cooked breakfast and large en-suite rooms. Good price too. Slightly off the main area of B&Bs but still close to the parks and the sea but a quieter road.

Good B&B, all the thing's you expected are supplied . Good sized room, lot's of channels on TV , very clean linen and bedding and lots of options for breakfast. If in town again I will definitely check Kingsmeres vacancies.

I have stayed here before and plan on staying here every time i come to south shields. Its just off ocean road, so much quieter. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Lots of steep stairs. Old dated shower painted black to 'tart it up'. Christmas decorations stored in our bedroom. Bar in hotel never open. A bit of a waste of time.

Paid for three nights, no breakfast. Stayed with my partner in room 5 - which had a private bathroom just outside the corridor. The guestbook was perfect for newcomers to the north coast looking for places to visit. Personal sink, hairdryer, standing fan and a wide selection of teas and coffees were lovely, and the fluffiest of bathrobes was a most welcome comfort. We slept incredibly well due to the inn being higher off Ocean road, and the streets being quieter. Only deducting two points from the pressure and temperature of our shower fluctuating, and some dusting needed to be done on the shelves above the door and headboard of our bed. Bar from that the cleanliness was immaculate. Other then that, we would absolutely stay again!

Warm welcome from Paul who kindly carried my case to the room. Check in easy. Room modern and very nicely decorated. Bed very comfortable-slept very well. Loads of towels. Warm, fluffy towelling dressing gown. Breakfast order was taken at check-in and had a lovely omelette, tea, fruit juice all served promptly.

The Kingsmere is always my first choice on visits to South Shields .Great location in a quiet area. A 10 minute walk from sea front attractions and the town centre with free on street parking. Paul & Sally are great hosts, and nothing is a hassle to them. The brilliant little on site bar is also a welcome site after a long journey. The rooms are always spotless, with big comfy beds and free toiletries & some comfort products. It does fill up quickly, as I have often found when trying to book. So if its available, then do not hesitate!
