    Close to everything. Free brewed coffee and etc. There are 2 male staffs there that were so nice,just forgotten to ask their names. Would stay there again.

    I had a great time here, the staff were excellent in encouraging social activity among the travelers here. I participated in two events, the takoyaki cooking event and calligraphy event and made many new friends, both among the fellow tourists and japanese staff (shout out to yuri, haruto, kousuke, kouya, kanami and others). laundry can be done on the rooftop, and their minibar is well stocked. their beds are also comfortable and not overly hot like other hotels.

    Tsukimi is a quiet, cute capsule hotel with a nice bit of charm, even if I’m still a little on the fence about it. Kyoto was extra expensive during my stay because of the long Labour holiday, so I went with Tsukimi for value, and it was a mixed experience in different ways. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff genuinely stood out. They were easily the friendliest and most helpful team I met on this trip — always present, always kind, and they really give the place its heart. The pods are slightly bigger than the usual capsule, which I liked, but the cleanliness wasn’t the strongest point. The luggage room is small and gets crowded when the dorm fills up, and the shared areas just didn’t feel as clean as other capsule hotels I’ve stayed in. Nothing terrible, but not clean enough that I’d walk around barefoot. Laundry is on the rooftop, with two washers and two dryers, and that was more than enough. The rooftop itself barely gets used, which makes it a nice little escape. Watching the sunset from up there — the old wooden houses, people in kimono passing by— was actually a really special moment. Location is where I’m most conflicted. It’s in the older part of Kyoto that becomes completely quiet after about 6pm. If you want dinner options or anything lively, it’s a 15–20 minute walk or a very crowded bus ride. And Kyoto buses generally won’t take luggage, so you’ll be doing a slightly uphill 10-minute walk with your bags from Gion-Shijo station or jump on a cab. The rooms also get quite warm at night, so if you’re sensitive to heat, it’s something to be aware of. Overall, Tsukimi has a friendly vibe and some nice Kyoto touches, but between the heat, the cleanliness, and the very quiet location, I’m not entirely sure I’d choose it again. It was a cute experience, just not a perfect one. Nevertheless, for the price, it’s still definitely value-worthy.
