A good overnight stop on our journey to the south coast! Very friendly staff in the bar welcomed us, and were extremely helpful. Nicely decorated and spacious rooms. A good choice of decent meals on the bar menu available in the pub, so convenient not having to dine elsewhere. Excellent value, and both the evening and morning staff were great. Yes, a bit of road noise, and extractor noise heard in our 2 rooms, but we are used to silent nights living in a rural location!

Before you book, know that the primary business here is as a VERY popular family friendly pub! Most of the staff were very nice and helpful, though there's an expectation that you already know things and the anticipation that you are going to ask things that are wildly off target. The room was spacious and fairly comfortable, though needing a bit of attention--peeling paint, saggy loveseat, better pillows. A good place for a base to explore the region and basically be a place to sleep between excursions.

Clean room and bathroom. Lovely hot water at all times. Very comfortable beds. Well spaced tables for dining. Very helpful staff. The food was excellent. Well prepared and very good portions. Any leftovers were purely for no room to stuff any more! The prices charged were on a par with any of the best restaurants, with king sized portions. We stayed overnight as we had a car in the local garage which was going to take most of a day to repair. We were told to make ourselves at home while waiting for the garage to confirm the car was ready. Nothing was too much trouble. The prices charged were on a par with any of the best restaurants.
