Park Hotel Kyoto

Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a peaceful stay in kyoto

I felt very comfortable staying several days at the Park Hotel. The staff is top notch, friendly and willing to assist with anything at all. I love the walk in shower & the fact that I can watch Netflix in the room. I used the washer/dryers several times as I stayed many nights here. The LOCATION is perhaps the best of any hotels I stayed at in August. Close to subways, taxis pass by in a regular basis do easy to get one & most of all, I walked to almost everywhere. Starbucks are plentiful in the area, about a 9 minute walk, 7-11 is practically right next door on the next block, I also surpringly found SHOYEIDO incense within walking distance. The Starbucks Kyoyo- Karasuma-ROKKAKU and Starbucks RESERVE are the two closest and wonderful Starbucks near the Park Hotel. I suggest walking the side streets. You will find so many cute little morning cafés. and there is a FIVERAN BAKERY that is unbelievable, and you can smell it down the street if you’re walking. It’s so delicious with no shortage of options. I plan to revisit Park Hotel as my home base hotel in the future. They are very accommodating and affordable!! Thank you so much Park Hotel! Hotel is relatively near to the station exit but it poses challenges when carrying of luggages up and down the stairs as there are no lifts available in that exit.

Hotel is in a nice location, very close to convenience stores, train station, and the markets. However, the first time was stepped into the room it reeked of body odor. There was conveniently an air purifier that we left on blast and drenched the room in air fresher. We thought having that on while we were out the next day would fix it, but we were wrong. The smell began to subside during our first night but came back when we returned the following day after the cleaners came back. The room smelled even more like BO. It came to our attention that this hotels cleaning staff was entirely of a certain demographic. The smell was definitely from them and we had to request a change of rooms. Our new room was fine until the cleaners came the following day and the smell returned. This would be our third hotel during our trip which we hadn’t had this issue come up. Lastly, the front desk staff of the same demographic was completely incompetent when checking out and almost sent our luggage to the wrong hotel until we clarified with her for a third time. Being a four star hotel, this was not a four star experience. I think this hotel is great for the location, but unless you can handle pungent body odor, look elsewhere.
