Affordable and comfy stay

Lovely space, I stayed for 2 nights and nice home away from home.

Could feel the bed springs in the bed but that’s the only gripe. Really enjoyed my stay.

Colchester short stay

Very quick response from host. Shower worked well. Furniture and bed were comfortable. The area was quiet on the two nights we were here. This was midweek. There was an iron and an ironing board.

There were residents parking places outside the property. We asked the host where we should park and were told you could park anywhere. But an angry neighbour knocked on the door and asked us to move from their space. The property is in an area far from the centre so people would probably be driving - need to let guests know exactly what the parking situation is. The apartment was cheap but it is in one of the most deprived areas of town - we did not have time to research before we booked. Traffic to get to the area was really bad. The owner has clearly done their best to furnish the apartment nicely and get it clean, but sadly there is a very musty smell throughout that is apparent as soon as you enter the property - it might be due to previous tenants smoking? There is noticeable mould all along the bathtub and when we were here the bathroom sink and bath both backed up with water and took a long time to drain. There was very little cutlery, and some broken cutlery in the drawer. No tea towels were provided, nor cloths to wipe up with. No coffee, tea or sugar which is usually provided at other properties. These things make self catering and keeping the space clean difficult! We asked the manager for a little more cutlery when we arrived but they apologised and said they could not provide it.

Cheap and basic.

It was close to the University of Essex and also an excellent Fish & Chip shop.

It was adequate but not very homely. Mattress smaller than bed frame.

Home from home very easy to get to and a stress free stay

It was Very clean and comfortable easily accessible Everything was thought about and contained everything that you would need

There wasn’t anything except maybe a net curtain or blind in the kitchen but that’s my own preference and doesn’t effect the quality of the property

Static itself was clean & well equipped if little ‘tired’

Shame host doesn’t provide towels (bar hand towel). Host made clear about making no noise, yet noise from adjoining statics was loud, with children running round and screaming till after 23.30. Point to remember if booking in school holidays. This point is not reflective of the host or the static itself, just surroundings

Great value for money.

Host really accommodating and helpful with early check-in. Short journey from the station. Good facilities and generally clean.

Bed quite uncomfortable and only 1 set of thin pillows. Host very unhelpful when I accidentally left a pair of shoes at the property; have not received them back.

Left out of pocket after toilet issues!

The property was clean and well kept

I booked 2 nights, on the first night the toilet became blocked. I advised the owner first thing the following morning. It was unable to be resolved within 24hrs so I had to seek different accommodation at a much higher price, I had a leave a wedding half way through the day to pack our things and move us to a new accommodation. I was offered a £25 refund to allow us to get breakfast, to which I replied that wasn't fair as we could not use the property for half of our stay. I was then advised to contact booking.com to cancel and request a refund for the day/night we couldn't use the propety and told "it will not be an issue" by the owner. I was refunded £11. As the owner refused to waiver cancellation fees. I rang booking.com to raise further complaint but this has been ignored by the owner and I still very out of pocket.

well equipped, friendly and responsive hosts, overall a nice stay.

very suitable for our needs and well equipped with everything for a short stay. the hosts were very responsive when we asked for the air bed to be set up and the housekeeper came very quickly.

the neighbours made some noise but this isn’t the host’s fault and wasn’t a major problem for us.

What a place to be

The house was very neat, breathable and comfy to stay. The house owner was polite and helpful to ease my check -in . I did enjoy my stay and it was worth the price.

It was warm and handy for public transport. parking was good

The website was confusing about the beds referring to a sofa bed in the lounge when starting the booking process. The signs in the flat about not jumping on the furniture and a conversation about how many people were staying felt a bit threatening. The inflatable bed deflated and there was only 1sink plug in the flat for the kitchen, bath and bathroom sink. There were no instructions left regarding rubbish, TV etc It was difficult to see to put the key in the lock on return in the dark and needed a security lighy

Eenvoudig verblijf voor een nette prijs, goed voor één nacht, onderweg naar de ferry in Harwich.

Verblijf was gelijkvloers en alles was schoon en netjes. Alles werkte (incl. smart tv / airplay).

Het lag in een volkswijk/achterbuurt; wij voelden ons buiten niet echt op ons gemak. Er waren erg weinig stopcontacten. Je moest de magnetron uitzetten om de afzuigkap aan te zetten, hetzelfde voor waterkoker en broodrooster, etc. Het huis was netjes opgeknapt, maar ze waren vergeten om gaten/schade uit het verleden te verhelpen. Zag er daardoor behoorlijk rommelig uit.
