Double booked, noisy from bar below on a Saturday

NOTE: Although I booked Vivians Rooftop apartments, I was allocated an Egos apartment instead in arrival. Great location for Donington Race Track, less than 15 minutes drive and also close to East Midlands Airport. Apartment was spacious.

On arrival I had to ring the landlord for directions as this place is tucked away behind a main street. I'd been told that the apartment I'd booked had been double booked in error but he did manage to switch me to another one of his apartments. This was a stressful experience as the phone signal was very poor in that area and at one point the call dropped out. Although described as a self-catering apartment with kitchen, there was no hob where I stayed so making dinner was a real challenge. Finally, as I stayed on a Saturday night, I was aware the apartment was above a bar but the windows are single glazed so there was little sound insulation. People could be heard until the early hours of the morning so not a place to stay if you want a quiet night's sleep.

Relived it was 1 night

It was a bit of a disaster from minute 1. Called by the owners a few hours before check in today they had overbooked and could I switch apartments which I agreed to and now wish I hadn’t. The apartment had obviously been surface cleaned before arrival but it was pretty dirty in places. All the window sills and under the bed were covered in dust and possibly saw dust? One of the pillowcases had stains of some sort on it. And the owners or staff only left 1 towel for our stay when there were 2 people on the booking. The worst thing about the apartment though was it is directly above a bar / club. From going to bed til around 1 am we were basically trying to sleep in a Nightclub as the music was so loud. There were a good range of kitchen facilities including an air fryer which was good.

Convenient, nice flat in nice location

Location was perfect for me allowing me to work to and from the office I was working from. Decorated very nicely with good facilities (e.g. kitchen was well stocked)

Only minor details - a larger towel and an additional pillow or two would have been great but nothing that detracted from the overall quality of the stay
