Perfect family retreat in a lovely off grid community

Lovely well maintained area with genuinely lovely people. The hot tub was a big plus where we sat under the stars and watched the night.

Absolutely adored this place so much so we are considering moving closer. It was so relaxing. Hosts and others were so nice.

Overall, we had a really fun stay once we settled in. The accommodation itself was spacious and perfectly functional, with everything we needed for the night, and the owner, Kevin, was friendly and welcoming.

That said, the property could definitely do with a deep clean and a bit of TLC. The furniture and flooring appear old and worn. It’s tucked away on a unique setting, although the chalet itself didn’t feel quite as “off-grid” as the listing suggested. When we arrived, Kevin explained that the cleaner had been due to clean the property before we arrived, but for some reason hadn’t, so he ended up changing the duvet cover and sheets himself whilst we were there. He did reassure us that a friend had stayed the previous night and that the bathroom and beds had been properly cleaned beforehand, which was reassuring. The toilet, shower, beds and hot tub seemed clean enough which were the most important areas. Unfortunately, there were still a few signs that the general cleaning had been missed. We found cracked eggshells behind the bin, the bin lid was broken and needs replacing, there was toast left in the toaster, crumbs on the kitchen side, and even a hair found in the freezer. We also felt we had to re-wash dishes before use. None of these things completely ruined our stay, but they did give the impression that the property hadn’t had the thorough clean it really needed before new guests arrived. Despite those issues, we still ended up having a great evening. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and some general updating, this would be the perfect place to stay.
