Room was really nicely decorated, in cottage theme which was well presented. Staff in pub were really welcoming and could do enough to ensure our stay was great.
Nothing, everything was spot on.

Really great family room! Comfy beds, lovely decorating and across the road from the pub so also quiet. Would definitely book again and recommend to people.
We went in October half term and we were pretty cold even after the bar tender gave us the hive controls. One radiator didn’t work near the bunk bed end. The heating was very clanky sounding when it fired back up to keep the room at a set temperature.

Recently decorated and clean. Very big room. Huge bathroom. Bath and shower were both fantastic.
Room was freezing when we arrived. Sparsely decorated and not cosy. Nowhere to hang anything not even a towel. Not very welcoming. Lamps without bulbs in. Cheap bedding. Terrible noises in the night woke us up in a panic a couple of times, coming from the boiler or radiators I think.

Room was lovely, and pub and food was good
The shower wasn't draining the water away, not enough body wash for a family of 4 and no bubble bath for the bath. Radiator in the bathroom didn't work so was very very cold in there in the morning and staff was a bit pushy when trying to book a table at the pub

Rooms were beautiful. Staff were friendly and efficient. Loved it.
Parking is a challenge but obviously because it’s a small village. We found somewhere on the road so no issues.

The rooms were lovely. We stayed as going to Alton Towers and the location was perfect. A the area in where this hotel was also lovely.
Couldn’t fault the property at all. Felt the price was slightly expensive for what it was a room only with no breakfast included.

Beautiful room with lovely detail and decor. The room gave a homely feel, very clean and comfortable. Staff were excellent, very welcoming and helpful. The restaurant within the pub was also very good. Will definitely stay again next time we are in the area.

The location, (Close to alton Towers)
Rooms was filthy, dust everywhere, took about 10 minutes to get the right temperature in the shower, extractor fan didnt work in the bathroom so the fire alarm kept going off in the room due to steam, not to mention the shower glass was filthy, the kettle was full of limescale, there was sugar and coffee all over the sides and floor from the previous visitors, the room was freezing and no option to put the heating on, bed was a comfortable mattress but far to small for two average size people. Struggled to get in the facilities once left as the digital coded door was faulty and needed a member from the bar to help us in.
We had to clean out room ourselves as my pregnant partner was not breathing all the dust in.
This room is far to expensive for what you get. Very boggy standard with cheap refurbishment. Would not recommend.

Rooms had a nice clean rustic aesthetic, very roomy and comfortable, wonderful friendly and helpful staff and a decent boozer
Missed out on food as they were very busy, fully booked and delayed before being at capacity. We didn’t have a booking which is absolutely understandable, just gutted a bit cos food pics looked fantastic. Should of booked night before!

I liked how the hotel wasn't far from alton towers, made it easy to set off in the morning. The pub has other pubs not far from it. Its a nice location and the room met expectations.
Just that the pub doesnt do breakfast and we had to go somewhere else but its not a big deal.

Very close to Alton Towers , 4-5 min drive away. Great for a pit stop/overnight stay as was for us.
Welcoming and extremely helpful staff

Lovely pub serving great local ales and excellent food, I’d recommend reserving a table ahead of time
The family room was outstanding
The double room was really cosy (bed could’ve been a little bigger)
Loved the new bathrooms

We booked the family room for myself husband and 2 children the room was absolutely beautiful very spacious and decorated beautifully 🤩 absolutely spotless and the bed was perfect so comfortable the children ages 12 and 13 shared the bunk beds which where better than any ordinary bunk beds the bathroom was huge with a walk in shower and freestanding larger than normal bath tub,, the bedroom and bathroom where furnished with gorgeous furniture far better than any room I’ve stayed in before so much character even as far as the old fashioned toilet systen and radiators just beautiful 🤩
We had plenty of tea and coffee
We had a meal and drinks in the pub which is just as beautiful as the room the food was of high quality and the staff where very friendly and welcoming the owner who showed us too our room was really friendly
I can’t fault the room or staff or anything regarding the service we received the only thing I would say is a few of the locals who where drinking in the pub where quite unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable this however would not stop us returning as everything else was amazing

Alton the village
The noise of the stairs leading up to each room as other guests very loud
Cost
Door handles to entrance badly fitted and fell off when pulling door shut we had no key for the room for a while either!
We were asked to go in another room across the landing but even though handle had dropped off we were able to lock the door and so decide stay put, we told staff this was what we had decided, we went out for the evening, got back late on got in bed and next thing noise on stairs and then someone trying to put a key in our door! Saying it was their room I said it wasn’t and they tried again before finally leaving to go find someone out of pub to help with their issue, we presumed they got the room we decided against earlier. Wife felt quite nervous after that. So safety issue had occurred.
No breakfast either!
Room very hot, no air-con and no fan!!

The location
When we first arrived everything seemed ok we got to our room everything seemed good but then there was no heating our room was freezing we contacted and addressed the issue took over an hour for it to be resolved. Went to get a shower before going out for dinner the shower wouldn't turn down so almost scolded myself with the heat addressed this with the owner he moved us rooms, we then went downstairs for dinner ordered our food the chips were still hard and undercooked the chicken pie was spicy basically got told we were liers when we addressed this ordered prawns as a starter if that's what you can call them never seen anything like it, management is rude arrogant and clearly doesn't like anyone unless they are local definitely the biggest waste of £140 I have ever spent

The owner of the pub & accommodation (Chris) was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay extra enjoyable, which included putting free credits on the kids arcade machine in the pub to giving out free packets of sweets to us unexpectedly. Thank you Chris, you made us very welcome!

The property was ideal in regards to location to Alton Towers and closeness to a lovely pub.
It’s not that we didn’t like it, just something to point out to future guests. The road is very narrow and parking is extremely limited.

The location, the room was exceptional. Lovely area, very tranquil lovely night sleep.
The fact that dinner was supposedly served until 9pm. The kitchen was closed to us, as the restaurant had a function. It was a bit disappointing that they did not accommodate guests who were paying to stay at their premises. Takeaways are limited. However there is a fully stocked Londis within walking distance. I would suggest putting a small fridge in the rooms for this reason

The area is very beautiful.
The hotel did not do breakfast. The room and bathroom were very dirty, all the panels and skirts were covered in dust. the floors were clean and we think the bedding was clean but the bed head looked dirty and dusty, the bed was not good it was sagging from left to right. For the room size the bed is too small. The lampshades had dust on them. The sink in the backroom again was dirty, we chose not to shower as the bottom of the screen clearly had not been washed for a long time. The stairs up to all the rooms are aweful, so steep especially with luggage. The price of £140 a night was extortionate. Towels were thin and mean, there was nowhere to hang them. Nowhere to put your toiletries. No mirrors in the bedroom for dressing. Curtains too small for the window and let light in, right hand curtain hanging off. Very noisy, can hear the traffic and people very easily. I think with the light coming through the bedroom doors, in the event of a fire you could not get out, there is no safety guidance, it does need inspection.

Staff were friendly, pub for food was lovely
Location to alton towers was ideal, 5 minute drive
Check in and check out was easy
Room was nicely decorated just not very practical
Room was not the same as pictures advertised
Bed was small double (not double/with fireplace as advertised/pictured), it was also uncomfortable with a cheap thin duvet and squeaky frame - did not get a good night sleep
Nowhere in room to get ready by the vicinity of a socket/mirror - no hairdryer
Room was dusty/generally not clean
There was no designated parking for guests instead struggled trying to find a space down the narrow road, had to park further away

The family room was huge - it was clean, modern / vintage, and well worth the money. 5 minutes from Alton towers which was a bonus. The pub was great and we really enjoyed a night - staff were brilliant
