Great week in Lapland

We spent a fantastic week at Muotkan Ruoktu. It’s really in the middle of nowhere and gives a great feeling of wilderness. We cooked most evenings in the small kitchen and dined three times in their restaurant. During the day we participated in activities organized by the owners and we really enjoyed them.

The kitchen equipment is rather basic but it does the job.

Hidden gem in North Finland

The property’s location is great, especially if you want to get away from the city lights and spot some incredible auroras! We were sold by the rural landscape, the staff, quietness, and the wide range of activities. We tried a local dish and the snow scooters, and everything was exceptional.

Our cabin was in good conditions, but the facilities were a bit too antique (although it matches the vibes of the accommodation)

Great stay overall; a quiet-hours reminder could be a nice addition.

The location was amazing, surrounded by beautiful nature and far from city noise. I really enjoyed the fresh air, the snow, and the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, which made the stay even more enjoyable. It’s a perfect place to disconnect and relax.

The only small downside was that some other guests were quite noisy late at night and did not fully respect the quiet hours, which made it difficult to sleep until around 3 a.m. This is not related to the owner or the accommodation itself, but perhaps a visible sign reminding guests of quiet hours could help ensure a more peaceful experience for everyone.

Unique setting and activities

Our stay at Muotkan definitely exceeded our expectations. Kinga was super welcoming from the first moment, she introduced us to Lappish culture, took us on a beautiful snowshoeing walk through the wilderness and cooked us a delicious tradicional reindeer dish. As a cherry on the top, we also got to meet her beautiful dogs. Highly recommended stay!

You need to stay here at least for a night

I swear my review of this the property isn’t biased, even though it could have been, as this is the perfect location to see the northern lights from (yes, we saw them!!). Don’t be fooled by the price, the property has recently been renovated and it looks insanely good! Kevin and Kinga did an astonishing job after buying this property. They (and their staff) will help you with all the info you need, they are super friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. You can sense this in every detail of the property: the two beautiful dogs they have, the restaurant, the renovated and well-heated (we stayed there in October, during the first snow of the season) rooms, the warm and clean toilets & showers. Nonetheless, as previously stated, the location is perfect for a deep dive into the beauties of this area: 30 minutes away from Inari, where you can learn a lot about the Sami culture and in a quiet area, perfect for northern lights spotting (please have a look at the photos and convince yourselves).

Quiet, peaceful, homey.

The hosts, location, and the love the hosts have put into the place. You can tell you are in a place with a lot of soul.

The cabins I stayed in can be noisy if you have noisy neighbours. I was lucky and I had very polite and quiet neighbours ☺️. Not all cabins are the same and I stayed in the most basic ones. Going to the shared toilet in the middle of the night is not ideal, but this had been advertised beforehand, so no surprise there!

Le restaurant et les plats , l ambiance , on se croirait en vacances chez des amis jusqu’à aux propriétaires kinga et Kevin qui sont très présents et soucieux de savoir si tout se passe bien ! Une mention spéciale pour Mathieu et Mathilde avec qui les excursions sont magiques !

Si vous voulez passer un excellent séjour en Laponie, c'est l'endroit idéal!!! Tout est parfait : la gentillesse et la compétence de l'équipe sur place (francophones en plus), la localisation idéale pour voir des aurores boréales au calme et dans un cadre enchanteur, le confort des lodges, les activités proposées... Bref, allez-y, vous ne serez pas déçus!!!

Une aventure authentique avec des hôtes exceptionnels

L’établissement est situé en pleine nature, dans un environnement sauvage et très isolé, tout en offrant tout le confort et l’équipement nécessaires pour un séjour réussi. De nombreuses activités adaptées à tous les niveaux sont proposées, toutes de très grande qualité. L’accueil est chaleureux et attentionné. Kinga, Kevin et toute leur équipe sont aux petits soins, très à l’écoute et toujours souriants. Ils prennent réellement le temps d’offrir une expérience personnalisée, loin du tourisme de masse. La cuisine traditionnelle est excellente et de grande qualité. Un séjour fabuleux dans un lieu authentique que nous recommandons les yeux fermés.

宿併設のレストランの食事はどれもおいしかったです。今回はオーロラを見る事が主な目的でしたが、大正解でした。また宿ではオプションでサウナと露天風呂に入れるのですが、これが最高でした。オーロラの出現を待ちながら氷点下の夜に一人で誰にも邪魔されずにサウナと露天風呂に入る時間は素晴らしい魂の洗濯になりました！スタッフはとてもフレンドリーで笑顔で迎えてくれてとても安心して滞在できました。

Exceptionnel

L’un des meilleurs lieux de notre road trip en Laponie ! Le chalet que nous avons loué était très cosy, esprit chalet de montagne: un lit superposé dans la pièce principale et une chambre (sans porte) avec 2 lits simples fixes. L'endroit en pleine nature est juste magnifique et les balades à faire exceptionnelles. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié les paysages grandioses, la gentillesse du personnel et l’esprit très chaleureux du lieu. Nous recommandons également le restaurant très bon et les excursions organisées vraiment très bien (en petit groupe). C’était juste des vacances magiques ! Merci 😊

Tuntui epähygieniseltä tiskata astioita ja pestä vihanneksia suihku- ja wc-tiloihin sijoitetulla altaalla. Wc tilat olivat myös höyryävän kuumat kun suihkutilat olivat samassa. Suihkuun kannattaa mennä pelkän pyyhkeen kanssa tai mahdollisimman vähissä vaatteissa. Suihkukopissa oli pieni lokero vaatteille ja höyry ainakakin kostutti omani.

Ruoka ja pesutilat hyvät. Loistava miljöö lomailuun. Rivitalomajoitus oli huono.

Aamiainen oli hyvä! Kylläiseksi tultiin ja se oli pöytiintarjoiltu. Alueena kaunis, erämaiden ympäröimä mikä mahdollistaa hyvin eri aktiviteetit ja revontulien ihailun syksyllä. Pesutilat ovat viihtyisät. Ruoka ja juoma olivat hyvät!

Olimme neljän huoneen rivitalossa yötä. Vaikka huone oli viihtyisä niin toivomisen varaa jäi huoneen äänieristyksessä. Viereisen huoneen majoittuja yski kovasti (tupakkayskä) ja kävi tupakalla yöllä 15-20min välein. Nukkuessaan hengitys kuului seinän läpi. Oikeastaan pienikin ääni kuului seuraavaan huoneeseen. Onneksi olimme päätyhuoneessa, ettei ollut kahta naapuria. Huoneen muita outouksia oli valokatkaisijan puute oven vieressä. Pienien, yövalojen tai lukuvalojen puute. Lisäksi pussilakanoiden puuttuminen oli outoa, meillä oli omat toiselle mökille, joita käytimme nyt. Tyyny oli surkea, halvin Ikeasta.
