Beech Cottage - Family Cottage in the Peak District

Good location for day trips and kitchen very well equipped. Lovely decor throughout.

The courtyard area was in need of a little tlc (though appreciate the drought conditions caused the dead hanging basket and pots!) and was smaller than expected.

Great place to explore the surrounding area House was lovely and clean

There had been a dog in the house recently, which did set off an allergy.

Silenziosa e spaziosa

Nice place for a few nights, probably wouldn't want to spend any longer there. The cottage is quaint and well-equipped, and whilst the bottle of prosecco on arrival was a nice touch, we'd probably have preferred to have been left with more than 2/3rds of a toilet roll and some decent instructions about recycling, local amenities and checkout (in the cottage or online). Beds comfy and outside space is nice for a morning coffee. OK overall but would choose somewhere else if returning to Matlock.

The cottage is quite damp and fusty-smelling (dehumidifier in the lounge, marks on the walls and ceilings) and needs some attention. Shower head is temperamental and parking situation not great (road is narrow and quite busy). Could do with one more chair in the lounge as fitting 3 on the sofa isn't exactly comfortable.
