Lovely family home

Very easy with clear instructions to get in to the property and owner checked everything was ok after our first nights stay Lovely place for a getaway with my adult kids Beds really comfortable Kitchen well stocked Fab posh coffee machine and pods Even biscuits as well Loads of teabags etc Remember to take milk. Bath in top room is fabulous and the views out the windows are loveky Was really warm in the house as well when we got there. That was great cos the weather was rubbish lol.

It was lovely and homely. Only one bin bag and lack of cleaning cloths. Plenty of cleaning products though :-) Fire maybe needs a glove to open door when hot but we used a tea towel so wasn’t an issue. Don’t let this put you off though it’s a really lovely place.

The place was nicely decorated for Christmas, it was very homely and lovely and warm! It had absolutely everything we needed! We loved the fire and the view from the top bedroom. We would definitely stay here again!!

Beautiful Christmassy stay with family.

Really lovely little house with everything we needed for a lovely family stay. Really cosy, especially loved the open fire.

Loved everything about the property, the only fault I could find and improvement I could suggest would be that the coffee machine was exceptionally difficult to use as it was so stiff to open. But not really a problem.

An ideal location for visiting Chatsworth House. Haddon Hall next time.

The house was very warm,Instant hot water. plenty of towels. Comfy beds and bed linen. Very tasteful decor. Tea,coffe,milk and snack bars on arrival plus cooking and Olive oil salt and peppr.

Lovely spacious house and great that it is dog friendly! Just a short walk to Matlock which is ideal. Beautiful views of the Derbyshire dales in the distance. Hosts are really accommodating and quick response time.

A beautiful find!

We absolutely loved our stay. Check in was really easy and the location was a short distance from the town/our planned activities. The rooms were clean with plenty of space for the family. The facilities were everything you would need, with a few extra touches (and treats) made the stay extra special. The garden was beautiful, perfect for outdoor summer dining and the views from the lookout were amazing! If we venture back to the area, we will definitely book again! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Good communication from the hosts. The house was well kept and had some lovely features. The garden was beautiful with stunning views and you can hear the steam train at Matlock station during the day which is lovely to hear.

Fab traditional home , great location for walks and town

Cosy, traditional, good location , good size rooms , great view from lounge and lookout. Amazing views of stars as low street lighting . Owners can be contacted if need anything .

If arrive bk in dark on eve, there’s low street lighting and no night light on / working at back door area , the side passage is dark , just use phone torch then or use torch if need to let your dog in garden late on evening.

Weekend away in Derbyshire.

Cosy house great for friends to get tother and relax. Lots of facilities for eating in. Log burner (didn't use) Main bedroom had roll top bath, beds were comfortable. Easy to get to Chatsworth. Ashbourne, Cromford Mill.

Pleasant stay for a family of 6

Lovely interior design, very cosy and a wonderful garden space with lookout.

Access to lookout needs some repair as the wooden stairs aren’t far away from rotting away.

Very quirky

Quite a quirky place, difficult to get in and out and around. Lights didn't work when coming home in the dark. Didn't feel exceptionally clean. Bedding was unironed. Towels had a strange smell. Couches scruffy, didn't want to sit on them. Would recommend a little table and chairs at the front of the property to take in the views instead of a rotten old bench overlooking the outhouses. I am quite fit and able, but to just have your morning coffee and have to climb upto the garden could be prevented by putting this in place.

Cozy nostalgic house

It is a cozy nostalgic house. It was clean and set for us, so felt welcome. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. The garden was lovely, and so were the view's from it, and from the windows

The kitchen is cramped and the fridge is a little bit aside, so it's not so comfortable to cook in. The stairs are steep. For us it was ok, but with little children, or elderly people, It is something to be considered

50th Birthday Jolly

Space, layout, and facilities. Coffee machine with pods, very welcome and generous. Everything was as specified. A huge range in the kitchen helped make cooked breakfast easy. Views across the valley were amazing, and Matlock is well connected with transport. The heating was warm, and the shared garden with dog enclosure was very welcome. We had six adults accommodated with comfort... supermarkets to buy food and local stores for convenience. Local attractions take advantage of Heights of Abraham, Peak Rail, Lumsdale Falls, Matlock Bath, Masson, Cromford Mills, Black Rock, Gullivers Land, Alton Towers 45mins.. plenty to do, as well as dog walks, trails, food...

Some maintenance was needed (mentioned to host). Perhaps mention the hilly nature? For us from flat Essex, the walk up the hill was extreme. There was parking in the street, but this is a busy road with many pinch points, causing blind spots that needed you to proceed with caution, as the local drivers took no prisoners...

Amazing hosts

An amazing property with everything you need, real home from home. Beds were so comfortable and the bath in the top floor bedroom is a very nice touch, I enjoyed having a soak in the bath with a glass of wine and some nice views. Lovely places to eat in matlock and the people were all so friendly. The owners were very responsive to messages and extremely helpful when I had a slight emergency. I will definitely recommend to friends and family and would return myself too. The dog walks are amazing and near enough everywhere is dog friendly too.

Unfortunately not what we expected

the property was quite quirky and the views were superb

the fact it was supposed to be a two bathroom property we felt it was mis-sold to us and we definitely would not have booked it if we knew that.There is only one bathroom and just a stand alone bath on the top floor. we also feel people should be told that the access is quite steep including the garden and was quite difficult as we were all elderly

Fantastic!

This beautiful cottage was the perfect place of respite for my two young daughters, wife, & I after a long drive from the continent, cross-channel, & up southern England. Location proved prime, with exceptional views and that dreamlike village charm. Extraordinarily clean and well appointed, we simply loved this house!

Lovely and cosy

Lovely cosy cottage in a great location. We were very comfortable as a family of 5. We stayed in January the cottage was lovely and warm upon our arrival and the log burner was a good addition in the evenings. The decent coffee/coffee machine and biscuits provided were very nice and the beds were super comfy. Beautiful view from the lookout of the sunset on the first night night. On day 2 the weather was foggy but 5 mins up the road was clear and the most spectacular views of the clouds lower down in the valley.
