DOMITYS - La Flânerie

Not your usual hotel. This is a retirement complex with free apartment rented out (each unit as fully equipped kitchen, walk-in shower, living room, spacious bedroom and balcony). The main attraction is the gated car park (5 euro extra) and perfect for people on the move keen to secure their belongings left in the car). 10 min walk into Bethune centre where there are a number of restaurants (we went to La Table). This is our second stay there : value for money, comfort and super clean. Continental breakfast offered on a tray in the airy reception/meeting place, not the most exiting but sufficient to get you going on your onward journey.

Watch out for restaurant closure dates as this could limit your eating out options on Mondays particularly

It's a studio with kitchen. Very quiet.

-1). No A/C in the room, ( but in the rest of the building it is ... !!!!!!! ): it was a VERY HOT day and the maintenance person cane to the room to tell me I had ONLY a heating system. I requested a fan, and THE JUST BROUGHT ME A BOTTLE OF COLD WATER !. -2). BE AWARE. IT IS NOT A HOTEL: The building is actually a nursing home inhabited by elderly people !. ( The Booking app advertises it as a hotel ) -3). "Pet friendly" ... ?: NOT TOO MUCH. The place advertise in Booking that an extra €10 per night fee is to be paid for a pet. I WAS CHARGED €30 for only 1 night !!!!. NOBODY at the front desk spoke english, so when I asked them why they were charging me €20 in excess for my dog, they disn't give me any answer. -4). Been so close to the Port of Calais, there's a lot of british and international travelers in the area. How is it possible that NO ONE SPEAKS A SINGLE WORD OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE ?. Ifelt helpless. It is a real shame. Of corse, everyone there is a fench speaker, ( again, ONLY FRENCH language, my friends ), which is understandable since the place is in fact a NURSING HOME thought for ELDERLY FRENCH CITIZENS. They just advertise their empty studios in the Booking app for the night, meaning that, by the moment you realize that the place IS NOT A HOTEL, it's too late. And and that point you are simply stuck in there ... ).
