Wyan, the owner and his family were really lovely, extremely helpful, friendly, generous & inclusive. They even taught me how to make these little prayer baskets, Amazing location and view from the balcony of the top villas. To road to the homestay narrows & the last part is not accessible by car. You need to walk down a winding path that leads through a banana jungle until you finally reach the court yard of Umah Saren. The setting is truely Balinese with an open pavilion, several big carp aquariums, lovely garden feartured. Rice fields, waterfalls, organic vanilla farm & a great Warung in walking distance from the homestay. Umah Saren is one of those few peaceful & non-touristy spots in Bali where you can witness and become part of the local life.
The only thing I would like to suggest to improve is the selection of breakfasts on offer.

Logement très agréable, hôtes très gentils et disponibles, cascades à proximité, plus pratique en scooter.

Clean, new rooms with functional air conditioning, immersed in the green. Close to waterfalls.
- The property was far from everything, there was only one Eco Lodge nearby (3 mins on scooter and 16 mins walk) which had a restaurant, otherwise it’s hard to know where to go and eat. - There are some rooms upstairs and 3 downstairs. We had 2 rooms downstairs and one upstairs. The downstairs rooms are directly above a pig sty which smells really bad so sitting outside and enjoying the green view was not an option at any moment of the day. The stench would also come into the rooms (not as strongly) because the doors were not 100% sealed. Our friend upstairs said the smell was not as bad on his level but he could still smell it. It really affected our stay and I’m surprised it’s not mentioned in any of the other reviews. - the property is accessed by a small path, which is fine, but there are neighbours who live along that path who own vicious dogs. The gate is never closed and the dogs run out and bark aggressively at us because they don’t know us. My friend was bitten in the back of the leg by one of the dogs, we were not aggressive and did not interact with the dogs. This was right after the dogs had aggressively chased me and my two young children. So we asked the hotel to tell the neighbours to keep the gate closed. After that we walked by another 5 times and the gates were always open and the dogs were running free. One more time they ran out and barked really aggressively towards us so we shouted to the neighbours to close their gate. This is not a safe place to stay for young children due to the dogs. - on the last day, the manager asked us for double the money we had agreed for the scooters we hired but we suspect it might have been a communication issue. Still, we thought we were agreeing to 60,000 INR per day per scooter which is exactly what we paid everywhere else in Bali but they said we should be paying 120,000 INR per scooter per day. This was excessive, whether there was a communication error or not.
