Good stay for the price and staff were very nice.

Location was good (you could easily walk places) and staff were very kind. The bed was comfortable and en-suite bathroom was okay. Free breakfast was a nice bonus and overall I had a good stay.

My room was quite noisy because of the road next to it/ some animals nearby- just remember ear plugs and you’ll be fine.

Would not recommend

The room was not clean. There were spider webs all over the room and bathroom. The sink and the floor were dirty and there were blood spots in the bathroom. The water pump was making lots of noice the entire night. We slept awfully bad because the roof isn’t closed so animals could come in. Lots of bugs in the room as well and dirty curtains around the bed. Breakfast is okay taste but poor in quantity.

Peaceful and quite location

Beautiful homestay in the heart of Sidemen but away from traffic. Very quiet, with a huge and super clean room. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff were kind, helpful, and friendly. Absolutely recommended!

A good budget stay in Sidemen

A nice big room, comfortable and in a good location

The AC was quite noisy, the water pump was outside our bathroom window and there seemed to be an issue with it as it was making noises.

servicable stay in sidemen

beautiful garden in a good location for sidemen- they have a small warung, a shop, rent out scooters, can arrange drivers. rooms are ok, mattress have a thin pillow top so not as hard as most beds.

noisy aircon, one of the rooms had a dripping ceiling in the bathroom. no service - not even exchanged cups after using them the first day for coffee. had to wash them in the bathroom. breakfast is ok. it’s ok- not great.

The room was a great size and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was tasty but only served between 8-9:30. The location is peaceful, close to a really nice Warung.

Janas Homestay is an exceptional Homestay in the heart of Sideman. The rooms are so clean and spacious. Mine was so beautiful as it looked onto the family temple which was so peaceful. The staff are the outstanding thing about the place as their communication (Anni and Ketut) was fantastic and it was so easy to communicate as their English was great! Breakfast was sooo yummy. The banana pancake and French toast, i recommend. Also they have a restuarant called Bali Warung which is very good prices and food good also. I walk everywhere and the location is ideal for this. There are many restuarants and warungs close by. Janas was happy to give us a lift up to the Morning Market one morning which was much appreciated. Ask for directions to Tinis Spa, it is an experience you will not forget, the walk there and the view....wow!. I will definitely be back as Sideman is magical and Janas made the stay very warm and welcoming. Thankyou !

Simple stay in a good location

Jana’s Homestay is in a perfect location to explore Sidemen. The room is simple but has everything you need, and the shower is surprisingly good. It’s a great spot for a short stay and works well if you’re just looking for a good place to sleep.

A few things could be improved: there was no hand soap at the sink, and the bed sheets had some stains. The breakfast could also be a bit more lovingly prepared – just a little more attention to detail would make a big difference.

The conditions exceed the prices

The courtyard is beautiful. The mattress is comfortable without being too soft. The location is right between the posh area of Sidemen and the centre of the village. The hosts are very helpful and nice. They even brought us our breakfast to our room. They have drivers and cars to pick you up from and / or take you places, on request. The bed has a canopy. They are very good with children. Big bats roam the place at night. They will not go into your room without permission. The place is very clean, and they mop the patios every morning at around 6:30. The garbage bins are outside. There are clothing racks for each room. All listed amenities are present. The homestay also has a small clothing store and a mini market.

The false ceiling to our room is not in a good condition. Not dirty but partly broken away. The big cabinet is skewed, so the doors do not open properly. The bathroom door is also skewed, and rubs on the floor and the hinges squeak. There is no fridge in the room, but you can use the ones in the kitchen.

The staff was very friendly and apologetic for some situations that arose.

I really don’t like to provide negative feedback as I know people are trying to make a living. While the staff was very friendly and kind, my experience was not the best and I would not stay here again. After having been here, I do agree with other reviews that the place smells musty. My first situation that arose was my ride from Ubud to Jana’s. Once my ride was 30 minutes late, I contacted Jana’s to learn that the driver had a flat tire. No problem, I found another ride. After going to dinner and coming back to settle in for the night, it was hard for me to be comfortable in the room when there was loud talking and conversation in the room next to me. Once it was 9 pm I contacted the Homestay via what’s app and let them know about the noise and that I would be leaving the next day. She let me know it was unusual and that it was a family member that was having problems (had been in an accident and had people visiting). Honestly, I’m super flexible but this environment did not work for me. The conversations continued until around 10 pm and started again around 6 am. She offered to not charge me for the second night, which I appreciated and also felt like that was the right thing to do on her part. The noise was such that I was on my bed and made a recording from my phone to send to her and you could hear the noise from that distance. The walls are super thin. Aside from the noise, it would be helpful if there was a dresser or wardrobe in the room. The room consists of a bed, nightstand, and desk- there really was not a place to put any clothes.

The owner asked me to extend the stay without going through booking.com. At first i was hesitate since it against booking.com policy. They said " rest assured everything will be fine." I was offered a discount but then they scammed me for not keeping discount. The lady who owns the place even asked me for bottle of water fee. She yelled at me with attitude. This is the worst customer service ever.

Highly recommended choice for your stay in Sidemen

Very close to the main street of the incredibly beautiful Sidemen. The setting is idyllic and the staff who look after the accommodation take care of every detail to make your stay perfect. Beautiful garden, very well maintained and room clean and prepared with care and attention to detail. A great choice for your days in this amazing village!

jana is such a sweet woman! she welcomed us with open arms and was always available when we had a question or needed help! at some point we got sick (from somewhere else) and she even brought our food to our room when we couldn’t leave! breakfast is super delicious and the snacks from the restaurant too (didn’t try anything else)

nothing about jana’s homestay, just disclaimer in general: when we went out in the evening, around 7, it was already dark and many dogs were barking, one even chased us down a path, which really scared us. nothing happened but we just found the dogs more aggressive and territorial than in other cities:(

Cute homestay

Was a great location. We got a scooter from here and it was brand new! Lovely bike to ride. Honestly was worth the money for sure. The room was huge! We felt comfortable here

The only reason this doesn’t get 10 and as like a lot places in Bali the doors didn’t close 100% so small bugs did get in but nothing too serious to worry about and we have found this in about 70% of the properties we have stayed at so far

Bed near the ceiling above bed wasn't shown in the photos and made sleeping quite warm because heat was trapped. Also the stairs are quite dangerous and slippery not advised when carrying luggage or frail people.

Would definitely come back again

lovely homestay offering great value for money. big room with comfortable bed. internet was strong and we were able to work without issue. the staff is lovely and helped us to organise transfer to airport and to gili. breakfast is included in the price and is excellent. the homestay has a restaurant serving tasty food so you don’t have to worry about finding a restaurant in sideman. I think it is a great homestay and would be happy to stay here again.

not much hot water in the shower, hot water would only last couple of minutes and pressure of the shower was not strong
