Gardeners Cottage near the Norfolk Coast

Poor parking facilities. No chairs in bedrooms No kitchen cleaning products

It was a very beautiful house. Easy to get to places. Comfortable beds, lovely kitchen.

Parking was the only problem

It was really lovely, clean and a bottle of wine which was a really kind touch

We didn’t realise that the garden was not accessible from the house so if you have young children or dogs you can’t have the doors open, also no outside dining facilities and no tea towels to use

We stayed at the cottage on four nights in mid April 2025. We have stayed at many cottages around the country on short breaks and leave short positive reviews on our experiences. We are far from difficult guests and this review is reluctantly written but so that future guests have an honest idea of the premises and so the owner might make some improvements. We could have raised some of these matters whilst there but we just wanted to get on with our stay and make the most of it. Before we stayed at Gardeners Cottage we read the reviews but had an expectation that most if not all of the previously raised issues would have been resolved. We arrived just before 3pm advertised as the time to arrive from, this was a surprise to the cleaner who thought we would arrive at 4pm. So we waited outside for twenty minutes, the sun was out so that was okay but not a great start. Firstly, there are some matters which the owner can do little about. The neighbour, she clearly objects to the cottage being a holiday let and said so on the first day being quite odd and rude to us, she may not be well and so we largely brushed it off. The neighbours on the other side were very nice. Parking was an issue, unless you have a very small car you won’t get up to the house along the short access lane. So you have parking for one car only at the bottom of the access way, unless the neighbour decides to park her car so close that you cannot open your doors if you park there, which is what she did to us (she has one car and two spaces so we had to conclude it was deliberate). We had to find spaces to park both our vehicles on the road which is quite narrow and busy with farm vehicles. Additionally it seems the designated parking is probably on what is a shared access to the lane so not really a parking space. There was parking available along the lane but probably mostly a short walk from the house, we would have preferred to have known that rather than believe there was parking available.
