Comfortable but cleanliness was disappointing
The settee and bed were comfortable. Bedding and towls clean. Location as we were able to walk to Kynren. Location to town was also walkable. Washing machine worked well.
Could do with a damn good clean. I had to clean the worktops, hob and pot stands before I used anything as they were dirty. The floor obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while. I hoover the lounge but there was stuff that had been left between the settees. The hoover was full of dust. The bathroom could have done with a proper clean as well. The banister hadn't been cleaned and was sticky to the touch so that go a wipe down to.

Good, but...
A nice little house with good size comfortable rooms. Good value for money. Tea/coffee making provided.
Kitchen wasn't very clean. Previous occupants (and hosts) had not cleaned the pots, baking trays, and oven and cupboards need a deep clean. Had to wash everything before cooking!

Do not stay here
The property was close to bus stops (£1 to Escomb, the site of the oldest Saxon church in England), close to railway station.
The place was very poor, we couldn't stand it and left after only one of the nights out of the three we paid for. The place was overpowered by the plug-in air fresheners in the lounge, bathroom and main bedroom. Even with all the windows open we both had disturbed sleep due to the smell and woke up with sore throat and eyes. The property was in a poor state of cleanliness the skirting boards looked like they hadn't been cleaned for months, and the kitchen and bathroom floors were dirty. There was a builld up of dust on window sills and the bathroom radiator. In the kitchen the cupboards were unclean, utensil tray greasy and there were coffee/red wine/tea? spills on door frames. The small enclosed garden had rusty old furniture and two lounge chairs thrown over the back wall. Not a welcoming, inviting place to stay; a complete waste of our money.

Great little place for kynren and bishop Auckland
It was very comfortable. The sofa was probably my favourite thing, perfect for watching TV on a very wet weekend! Coffee machine was fantastic. I could have stayed for longer quite happily to explore the area. Garden was a wonderful little sun trap on our arrival. My daughter adored the reclining seat upstairs, I couldn't get her out of it. And if you are staying for longer there is plenty of space for clothes. The host gave us details to access the property in plenty of time and it smelled clean and fresh on arrival. Area was also nice and quiet. Morrisons less than five minutes walk away through the park. Really good access to the town and railway station. Host was also available in case of any problems but we were perfectly happy.

BLACK MOULD EVERYWHERE!!
Black mould everywhere! The worst area was in the cupboard in the bedroom I went to put my case in there and there was a big bag of folded towels resting against a disgustingly mouldy wall. So the towels I’d used to dry with had been stored directly with black mould. The bathroom door also didn’t close which was very worrying when we needed to use the bathroom. Carpet on stairs was vile. Dirty mugs. Dust all over. Back door wouldn’t lock

Nice comfortable location but the fridge could have been cleaner.
Nice location with comfortable downstairs furniture, and layout. Back yard was a nice sun trap.
The refrigerator could have been cleaned between guests. And the upstairs floorboards are very loud and creaky. Personally for us the bed was a little small (our fault it was correctly described) but as I said we prefer a king size, and my wife felt it was an little uncomfortable. For me though the big issue was the stairs, they are steep with deep risers and I am 69 years old with dodgy knees and hips. Also there were no instructions for the boiler that I could find. We eventually worked it out but the chance to get it wrong and maybe cause damage is high, and the shower was cold so maybe we didn’t get it fully right.
