Tracy has done a wonderful job making sure the cottage has absolutely everything you need for a quiet, cosy getaway. The cottage was lovely and warm upon arrival, everything was very neat and clean and there was no faff with trying to find the keys etc.
Even though the cottage is right next to the hosts house, you’d genuinely never know. It’s so quiet and perfectly private with the bonus of having the host right there if you need anything!
The view was so lovely and being able to experience it in the snow just added to the cosy vibe even more!
I haven’t slept so good in some time, the bed was cosier than the one I have at home.
Tracy is lovely to chat to and was incredibly helpful when it came to finding the cottage and getting out in the snow!
I usually have at least something to say for this section but no notes from me this time.

The cottage was warm and lit when we arrived. The milk in the fridge was very welcome for a nice cuppa after a very, very wet day. We were comfortable and warm and had everything provided for our needs. The views were absolutely beautiful. Thank you Tracy x

🌟 Exceptional Stay at Barlow Cottage – Truly Peaceful and Worth Every Moment! 🌟
We had an incredibly relaxing stay at Barlow Cottage. It was exactly the peaceful break we needed — calm, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful views and horses. We even wished we could extend our stay, but sadly holidays do have to end!
A huge thank you to Tracy, our wonderful host. She really puts so much thought into everything. The cottage was spotless and beautifully presented, and she provided all the little essentials you could need — kitchenware, toiletries, salt, sugar, and even a small milk bottle so we could make tea or coffee after the long drive. These thoughtful touches meant a lot.
The place felt like a true escape. While there is WiFi, the connection can be intermittent, and there’s no mobile network signal in the area — which actually made the stay even more relaxing with no calls or social media interruptions.
Important tip for finding the cottage:
• Before entering Barlow town, make sure you call Tracy or confirm the exact location, because the mobile signal drops completely.
• If your navigation takes you off-route (the postcode can be a bit tricky), simply enter “Brindwood Gate Farm.”
• You will see two wooden gates with a sign saying “Brindwood Gate Farm.” Once you spot that, you’re in the right place.
From the cottage, it took us around 22 minutes to reach Winnats Pass, so the location is perfect for exploring the area.
Overall, this place was fantastic and exceptional. I honestly don’t have enough words for how much we loved it. We are definitely coming again — 100% a must-visit. Amazing host. Bless her! 💛
The Wi-Fi connectivity is intermittent, so be prepared—sometimes it won’t work for Netflix or other streaming. If you’re like us and just want to relax and unplug, it’s fine. Otherwise, make sure to download your Netflix shows or anything else you want to watch ahead of time.

Bloody fantastic! We couldn’t believe our luck on finding such a wonderful clean, warm place to stay!
Even provided milk in the fridge and tea/ coffee and sugar.
We were also lucky to be able to watch a bonfire in the distance and later fireworks…. Followed by live music! Brilliant!
Grandson (age 7) love the seat swing and to be able to see the horses so close. My double bed was so comfy!
Plenty of towels. Plenty of available heating so on a November evening that was really appreciated.
One tiny thing … no hair dryer.
Nothing!

I struggle with noise and this was one of the quietest places I’ve stayed for a long time! Loved the horses and it was very confortable. Everything you could need is there and fantastic pub up the road.

Fantastic location with stunning views. Lovely comfortable cottage, very warm and cosy. The houses on the farm were great! Easy check in process and lovely and warm on arrival.
Unfortunately didn't see our host, but we were back late and out early every day - so no issue really!

It was a lovely, peaceful place, which was easy to get into. Great setting, very clean and very comfortable with everything we needed.
The Wifi, when we first arrived, was very slow and impossible to use. However, later in the evening and in the morning, it was fine. I am not sure if it was metered or not.

Very homely, great quiet location. Comfortable and everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.
The furniture is a little dated but still very comfortable. Shower pressure was very low but can’t complain overall.

Great little cottage, with everything you need. The views are stunning. Plenty of room to park. Watching the horses sat on the terrace in the field in front of you is magical.

The location views are idyllic and peaceful, with panoramic views from the bungalow, a very cosy porch, and beautiful scenery with horses, trees, fields,...the double bed mattress was a dream. The host was fabulous, very informative, helpful, resourceful, and kind. Near the Peak District and beautiful, picturesque towns.
One of the bedrooms had twin beds whose mattresses needed upgrading
Some of the walks are quite long.
You need to have a car really, to be able to get to any shops and amenities. So the location is beautiful, but not that well connected.

The location was brilliant and the views were amazing! The weather was kind to us when we stayed so we were able to sit out on the terrace and enjoy some drinks watching the sun set. Just lovely.
The location is so quiet, not a car to be heard just the sound of the horses in the field opposite.
The accommodation was very fitting with the location. Traditional cottage still style, clean, comfortable and cosy.
The host Tracy was superb with getting back to me with any questions I had and on the run up to our stay and how we checked in etc. she was even nice enough to have us have a later check out without an additional fee.
We loved it so much we have booked to go back already!
The wi-fi was hit and miss but when you book a cottage to get away from it all that’s not exactly a bad thing really!

Sadly we weren’t able to travel on the day due to our baby becoming very poorly, and the owner was so accommodating with letting friends of ours come in our place rather than the stay being wasted, and they had a fantastic time!

The view!!! The best view we have had in a Holiday cottage in the UK. Absolutely stunning. So peaceful and calm. Warm and cosy cottage, had everything we needed. Tracy was lovely and it was great to have tea, coffee and milk to hand. Lots of lovely walks both from the door and within a ten minutes drive. Will certainly be back 😁
Nothing! Water pressure was a little low on shower but was not the end of the world and perfectly adequate for what we needed

Sadly we could only stay one night . Everything was perfect . The cottage was nicely situated deep in the countyside but not too far away from the town of Chesterfield . The property was immaculately presented and had everything you could possibly need . There was even a fresh pint of milk in the fridge . A big thanks to Tracy for a very warm welcome . We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Derbyshire . Ps I hope you got the rain you so desperately wanted for the horses .
Nothing .

Very clean and comfortable, it was like staying at a good friend’s house, there was everything you could possibly need. Milk, magazines, teabags, coffee (even normal & decaf), liquid soap, etc etc. Lovely to say hello to the horses and views are fantastic. Would absolutely recommend, I could have stayed for days. Tracy was a great host and met us on arrival.

We had a wonderful couple of nights here. Everything was perfect. The location is ideal to get around the Peak District. Such a peaceful property and very private too. A lovely area to sit outside surrounded by countryside. The property had everything we needed to make it home from home. We would definitely recommend and also would love to return.

Gorgeous cottage on a lovely farm, stayed here for a Mums night away with my friend, Tracey was a lovely host, the photos don't do it justice.
Lovely touches like milk in the fridge for us 😊
Amazing views sat on the veranda sipping wine and taking in the scenery and the beautiful horses.

We booked the property for an overnight stop on a hiking holiday. Communication from Tracy was excellent, there was milk in the fridge and the lights were on ready for when we arrived. The property is faultless, homely, clean and the best value for money. We loved the location and beautiful views from inside the house, we will definitely be back!
