Quite chilly when we arrived, seemed to take about a day to warm up but it was January and snowing so to be expected of an old property

Lovely place and space. Ruined Valentines Day.
Lovely place and space, But we were highly let down due to intermittent power loss through the evening and morning. Myself and my wife stayed for Valentines day. I contacted Sykes Cottages who let this property and overall I was not impressed by the response received. Not only did we have power issues, But the radiator in the double room was leaking and was an obvious fault before we arrived as it had a small bowl under the valve with a electric heater in the room? Hmmmm. I hate complaining as the place was excellent and a real gem barring the issues. Sykes need to rethink the policy they have in place as I was astounded by the response given to my very polite email.

Convenient location and beautiful view
The location is perfect if you want to avoid taking the car from the parking. It’s located in the Main Street with a short walk from cafes, restaurants and a small grocery shop just across the street. It is also very convenient for all trials starting or passing through Castleton. I highly recommend staying in this cottage if you come to Peak District by train or any public transport.
The only big inconvenience we had was that we were a group of 4 and stayed for 4 days, but there were only 1 roll of toilet paper for the entire stay (and no toilet paper is sold in the small grocery shop), so needed to go to another town to buy more, which disrupted our planning for the day. There is no parking available at the property and you need to pay for public parking (the nearest one is the parking from Peak Hotel and they charge 12£ per day).

Peak Hols
The cottage was lovely. Clean,tidy and very comfortable. The location was great too, right at the heart of the village. There was a convenience shop over the road and various pubs, restaurants within a five minutes stroll.
