Vienna Palm Apartments

A really nice place to stay. Very spacious rooms, and all you would need for a short or long stay. Air conditioning in the main room was very nice, especially during the hot days Vienna was having. Very close to the western train station, so super easy to get to almost anywhere in the city. Warned ahead about nearby construction noise, so we were ready for it; it turned out to be not that bad. Will definitely consider for any future stays.

Three notes: 1 -- and probably this is out of the host's hands -- a lift/elevator would be great. Not only a bit of a chore to get our bags up and later down, the hot Vienna days made it an added effort to get back to the apartment after running around the city. 2, the A/C was in the main cooking/dining space -- which was nice -- but all the "living room" seating was in the bedroom. Kind of awkward when having people over, which we did a couple of times. (Part of the seating was a fold-out futon, so it something else that might not be easily addressed.) 3, the bathroom area is not fully enclosed. The transom over the door has no glass, so noises and scents can easily be shared with the apartment. The doors are all sliding, so closing them does help somewhat, but it's still a little "too much information" getting out.

Great location…very close to metro, tram, food stores, eateries and shopping miles. Nice, large and clean apartment with well equipped kitchen. Friendly host, and comfy bed.

Early morning construction noise from the next door building site on weekdays. Suitcases needed to be lifted up the long staircase to the second floor.

Excelente localização, perto de supermercados, restaurantes e ponto de metro e bonde. O apartamento é grande, espaçoso e confortável. Só senti falta de um micro-ondas! Recomendo demais! Os anfitriões foram muito gentis e atenciosos.

There was one problem, unfortunately, it proved to be significant.The owner contacted me by email that there will be nearby construction work. Since I was only informed a week before I booked the property, I couldn't cancel it. When we arrived at the property, the owner told us last week was very quiet for the building work and they don't know what their construction schedules is, and couldn't control when they work. This was not a problem the 24th and 25th of May as those days were a Sunday and bank holiday respectively, meaning no construction work was done, but from the 26th, construction work began at 6:15AM each morning, getting particularly worse from the 27th to 29th. We could hear drilling, hammering and the sounds of moving equipment. We couldn't sleep very well as the noise directly coming through our bedroom wall. We told about it to the owner, but they were bit surprised, they said no one complained about the noise. They didn't offer us other room to stay or to send us to any other properties, but we received a partial refund of 200 Euros. On the last night, the owner's wife asked me if they can help anymore? But we're leaving Vienna next the morning and I didn't want more money for that, as in the end, money can't make up for the time lost on a family holiday. The owner was very friendly and nice, but for the customer point of view, I wasn't satisfied how they handled the situation. We understand that they have to run their business, but we wish they could offer us other room or hotel, etc at the beginning. Perhaps they should stay the room for a week during the construction work how they feel.
