Vondel 99

Vondel99 has two rooms, so just be sure which room you’re booking when you make your reservation. The back room has an outside terrace, our room was in the front with no balcony. Both rooms are on the first floor. The room was very comfortable, well-decorated and thoughtfully equipped. Frank is a warm, welcoming and helpful host making the stay even more enjoyable. The location is superb, lots of lovely restaurants and cafes close by—two minutes to take a tram anywhere.

We were expecting an outside balcony.

Location and the great shops, restaurants and more. Decor, the interior design was masterful. Cleanliness. Attention to detail made staying in the accommodation wonderful. A serene refuge. And special touches like fresh beautiful flowers. As well as the hosts flexibility and help even to random questions like 'where can I get bubble wrap for this large lamp I bought at the market?'

It's Amsterdam. The stairs were vertiginous, thankfully only one floor.

Very good location- close to many tram lines, the museums and Vondelpark. Frank, the owner lives on site. He was very pleasant and helpful. The bed was very comfortable.

The room was smaller than it looked in the photos. The “kitchenette” was very small, limited lighting, easy to hit your head on the overhead cabinet. There were very noisy parrots that started screeching at 5:30 am! We were there during a heatwave and there is no a/c. There is a fan. Temperature in the room was 20-30’C +

The property was in an excellent location, close to a grocery store, restaurants, and the transit system. The neighborhood felt safe and we had no problems walking everywhere we went.

The property is beautiful and updated. The problem is the accommodations are not what they should be. While we were in Amsterdam, the temperatures were in the 90°F (32 degrees C) and the apartment has no air conditioning. Also, there was no functioning stove which we were expecting to cook our breakfast in the morning. And no microwave. The bathroom needed brighter lighting, and overall the light switches were a bit confusing to use. All that being said, Frank is a gracious host and he did his best to accommodate us. He provided a fan, which unfortunately did little but better than nothing. And an egg boiler so we could have hard-boiled eggs for breakfast. It is a beautiful apartment, it just wasn’t the right place for us.
