Great location
It’s very outdated in my opinion

Rooms were clean and modern just like the pictures showcased
Closest parking garage was $60 to park over night

Comfortable bed, very central location, and a friendly, polite host
The furniture and appliances showed significant wear and tear. The sofas were dirty, and there was visible scale and rust on the faucets. The suite was very noisy, as it was located directly above a bar there was loud music, traffic noise, and people shouting late into the night

Basic place at good price. Excellent team, couldn't be more helpful. A credit to the Keating
Location a bit rough but very central and felt safe

The room was spacious with big windows that let us see the nightlife. We were there for the lively atmosphere so we didn’t mind that the walls were paper thin. You could hear the bars and the upstairs neighbors very clearly but we didn’t mind for the purpose of our trip. There were staff on site for a couple of hours per day, and all of our interactions were great. The housekeeping staff was kind, the front desk staff was happy to help, and the security at night made me feel safe. We also stayed here because we are big Gordon Ramsey fans, so that was a plus. The tv had a Roku remote so you can log into your subscriptions, I am unsure if there was cable tv. The WiFi was fast and check in was super easy as it was interaction free.
I wouldn’t consider our room family friendly. I stayed with my husband so it was no issue, but the shower had no doors and it was adorned with a mirror on the ceiling. Personally I liked the shower but could see that it wouldn’t be appropriate for families. Only downside was that the bathroom only had a sliding door, leaving it with big gaps between the door and wall.

The properties location is great, in downtown, across street from the Taco el Gordo. We loved the location and being able to walk everywhere.

The location within the Gaslamp district was ideal for seeing all the sights in San Diego. Easy access via public transport to the airport and all major sights.

Great value for a central location in the heart of Gaslamp District. It’s most of the attractions are walkable or reachable by trolleys/buses within short walks. I loved the hotel exterior and Italian decor interior and that it has a mini freezer/refrigerator for those who are there more than 24 hours. Hotel provides earplugs and despite the music jamming downstairs, I had no issues. It’s in central downtown so expect road noise and activities in early hours. Reception is open from 9:00-16:00. The staff is very friendly and a text away.
Unable to open the window shades so it feels a bit like being in a dungeon. With the music downstairs in the weekend, and the high ceiling, it helps a bit. If you’re holed up all day, then it can get to you. But who comes to San Diego and stays indoors.

The location is incredible and the rooms an amazing value. Would highly recommend, especially for the money.

Great location as you are able to walk around the gas lamp district really easily. Price was also very agreeable. Room size was good and staff was friendly.
Only real issue is that the hotel is not staffed all the time and I could not find this information provided on any site, expedia actually lists as 24/7 fyi. Becomes an issue for a place that uses keyless locks and you lock your phone inside with no way to contact anyone onsite to get the code or let you in... I have never worked in or seen a hotel that uses home locks.

I love the building. That is why I took a look in the first place. The rooms are different in a very cool way. I just loved the vibe! Bed was comfy, pillows were comfy!
Only suggestion is to add lighting by the bed for reading. Maybe an easy spot to plug in devices.

I got the superior suit, and I must say it was quite big and nice, I really enjoyed the stay. Location was super central to all the bars and restaurant, 15min walk to the convention center and just tacos el gordo just on the opposite street 🌮 Oscar was very kind and was very helpful with all my questions. I had a problem with booking .com changing my room to a smaller size, even though I booked the bigger one, but oscar was so kind to just change my room back to normal and even let us stay on a higher level. Thank you Oscar again for your kind help and understanding.
room cleaning was not everyday, but it wasn't a big deal. Either way I enjoyed my stay a lot.

The architecture of the building. It represents the beauty of downtown san diego. I love the simple elegance of it.
The only thing I'd add would be a washer and dryer that guests could use.

I absolutely love the old architecture of the building. Born and raised in San Diego i can really appreciate the beauty in my city.
I loved everything!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! They really went above and beyond to make the stay as wonderful as possible.
The location of the hotel is really good and a 15minutes walking distance to the convention center.
The Junior Suites are very small (smaller than the pictures on booking) and the general smell of the hotel is a bit musty.
No kitchen / microwave or utensils in the room, it's in a shared communal space.
The toilet was very old.

The staff were so friendly. Location is just perfect in the middle of the Gaslamp.
It is not like a regular hotel! lack of facial tissues, not clean, not any houskeeping services offered, the whole place had smells, not isolating windows, lots of noises.

The historic elements of the property are what we appreciated most as well as its location in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The building itself has so many stories to tell through the many lives it has lived.
Although it didn’t bother me, any of the rooms with a view are super noisy at night on weekends because of all the entertainment outside. If you want a quiet room then request an interior one but don’t expect any kind of view.

Great location, and I really like the loft setup of the rooms. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a location filled with places to eat, and the hotel room does not have a microwave in the room. Not being able to reheat and eat food I had leftover was the only bummer.

Great location surrounded by restaurants, bars and nightlife. Eclectic hip ambiance within a registered historic building. Very clean and very safe. Nice professional staff who care about your comfort. Bedding was excellent.
No coffee maker, but my room did have a tea kettle
3.0 / 10.0
Good location, very convenient to get to know historic places, try good restaurants and also experience the night life in San Diego.
The building is old and has a very particular smell between humidity and dirt. It doesn't look like there's a lot of maintenance work to keep everything in good conditions so you get the impression that your bedroom, the halls and everything else is just not taken care of. The walls are very thin on top of that and you hear everything going on at the bars downstairs.

Fabulous mannerism, great courtesy and prompt response of the Keatings people to my suggestions over there
They could add a few basic amenities like a few ready mix tea sachets, tooth paste/brush and also see the possibility of working out to provide breakfast, of course at some cost

location was great, easy walking distance to the convention center. staff was very friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and helpful. Room was available a little early and i was able to get settled in which was awesome.
the layout and design of the rooms are just not that comfortable. The (concrete?) floors are a bit strange and I could hear every step the room above me made. The shower is just out in the open and can be seen from the bed so sharing the room with anyone other than a partner would be super awkward. The bed appears to be a king size but you can feel the break in the middle from two mattresses or mattress pads so it is not a true king. The luggage storage doesn't have a person in charge so you can only leave your bags at your own risk as the storage room is just locked with a code.

Beautiful, unique hotel with incredible staff -- kind and helpful -- located centrally in the Gaslamp Quarter. A short walk to the Convention Center, surrounded by great places to eat. The hotel also offers almost half-price deals on the Horton Parking Garage, which is a lifesaver.
Fifth street is a loud nightmare, teeming with hostile drunks, 365 nights a year. Keating does its best to mitigate this with thick windows and a chill vibe, but it can only do so much.

Breakfast options near the hotel were superb. Many good choices. When we checked in, we were asked if street noise would be a problem. When we said we wanted quiet, we were given a room in the upper back of the building. No noise at all. The staff at the front desk was friendly and very helpful. Gave good recommendations for places to eat and things to do.
The hotel is minimal and very comfortable. Another reviewer said it was quirky in a positive way; I completely agree.

Good location. Clean.
Zero amenities. No real staff. More or less a studio air b$b but more expensive. Beyond small tv’s. Cheaply put together.

It was very affordable and at the center of the nightlife and close to the convention center. The bed were very comfy.
It actually wasn’t bad but parking is an issue, they do have a parking structure that you can book through Spot Hero.

This hotel is quirky in the best possible way. It had modern-minimalist vibe. A very comfortable bed. Great price. Great location. Oscar was wonderful.
However, it does have some things worth mentioning, e.g. no shower door or maid service during our five day stay. no water cup?

The location is unbeatable if you want to hang around the Gaslamp Quarter, going to the Petco Park or the Convention Center. The rooms are comfortable, and the staff is extremely helpful and polite. The noise is a downside of it, but overall I would totally stay here again.

Location and staff, very accommodating and helpful!
Kinda old property, but maintained. Cannot open the window.

Comfortable bed, lots of storage, very clean, friendly staff, and good location near nightlife and Balboa Theatre.
Shower floor was very slippery when wet. Painted concrete floor in both shower and room was a bit Spartan for my tastes. Some throw rugs and artwork would help.

This hotel was amazing. The concierge/hotel staff Alex and Oscar were absolutely phenomenal. They checked-in with me each morning to see if I needed anything. It was one of the best stays I've had. The price was more than competitive, I felt like it was a steal. I will absolutely 💯 be staying there again.
Parking which isn't their fault but their recommendations of spot hero was on point. Saved me $20 a night.
