Design is excellent and extremely thoughtful. Staff was also friendly and helpful.
It is in a busy part of town so it is a little loud on weekends.

Breakfast is limited and only starts after 7.30 (for example I would have preferred to have more choice in bread and healthy options such as cheese, ham, vegetables.

The staff at this location was the real highlight, everyone was knowledgeable with the area and happy to help with our every request! Having access to snacks was also a huge plus! When in SD this will be my first choice even if I have to drive out to it.

The location was perfect, we had to go to the convention center for a conference and the area/walk (10-15 minutes) was very nice. Loved the rooms, the toiletries were unexpectedly great, everything was available either inside the room or brought by a staff member. Speaking of staff, everyone was super helpful: the people at reception, the staff during breakfast and the cleaning staff, they made the stay so much more special. I also appreciated the cleaning and reception staff's alertness and responsiveness when I forgot my jewelry box in the sheets in my room after checking out. They were quick to send me a message about it and organize a smooth handover.
This is the best experience I've had in a hotel so far, will stay again here whenever there's a chance.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the breakfast. Honestly everything was tasty, no doubt there, but I was on a low-carb diet and the choices for that were extremely limited, as there wasn't much variety for breakfast to begin with. Fresh berries were a nice touch.

This hotel is extremely comfortable. The art displays are so interesting.
My suite did have an unusual smell, maybe from the surrounding area.

This is a great boutique hotel located right near the lively gaslamp district. The decor is refreshingly artistic. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning was delicious and varied. Facilities all clean and well maintained. Overall a great value for the price.
The rooms are on the small side if that is something that matters to you.

I loved the design, healthy breakfast, and my room (the bed was also very comfortable), and nespresso coffee.
- There was a smell everywhere in the hotel, which I found unpleasant (maybe it was some air deodorant of some sort, I am not sure).
- Also breakfast could start half an hour earlier, I always hat to rush to be somewhere at 8:00.
- The height of the shower was not adjustable, but I quests it is common in the US.

Exceptional, it is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The hotel thought of every little detail and not only delivered but went beyond my expectations. From the coffee/snack bar right outside my room to the fancy iron to the delicious hot breakfast with healthy options, this stay has guaranteed my return. The complementary cocktail was a really nice touch as well. It had everything without feeling like it was over the top. Perfect!
the ambulance sirens at night were the only downside but that's expected for the area

Good breakfast but short on dishes. Always out of coffee cups and bowls...just buy some more!
Lighting was poor in some of the common areas. Better lighting would help. Plants were not curated well. This was a clever Hotel that could be so much better with a few simple corrections! It was fun and people enjoyed the space.

The design was impeccable. Loved the lobby and (I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever complimented a hotel on this before) the bathroom floor was so pretty. The hotel was close to the Gaslamp and it was definitely walkable. Breakfast was delicious.
The block where the hotel was (and maybe one in either direction) had several vacancies or non-tourist/family-friendly businesses. There was a strong perfume smell in the hallways, slighter but still present in the rooms with the inability to open the windows (one would open slightly but wouldn’t stay open). The room clearly hadn’t been used in a long while - definitely some dust in places. The water jug hadn’t been changed out (dust/condensation). Our introduction to the hotel was curt, maybe even bordering on rude. There may have been espresso drinks available the next morning (it looked like it?) for breakfast but there was no signage or explanation of this and we didn’t figure it out until later. Overall, the vibe was so detached that it didn’t feel very welcoming.

An exceptionally charming hotel; the old hotel has been beautifully renovated with great attention to detail. The many plants and beautiful furniture give the hotel an extraordinary flair. Very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, coffee machines, tea, water and small snacks on every floor are very welcome. (one small caveat: the hotel is not located by the sea but on 5th Avenue, which is particularly lively at weekends).

Great location. Easy walk to gaslamp, Little Italy, Petco, and harbor. Complimentary drinks each night and warm breakfast
Coffee maker on level 5 out of order but able to get one in another floor just inconvenient. I’m sure it’s a temporary issue. Would stay here again

Generous delicious breakfast. Clean rooms and attractive lobby.
Gaslamp quarter may have been the wrong fit for us. Mainly bars and lots of vagrants

The staff
The property had a scent that was diffused throughout the entire first floor and the hallways, and it was just too much and it didn’t smell very good when you walked in the front doorway it smelled like wet dog. The pillows are really really lumpy and not at all comfortable and our room would not get above 72° even though it was really cold outside.

The coffee maker on our floor didn’t work but we were able to get one in another floor

A beautifully decorated hotel, perfectly located to explore the area as a tourist. The rooms were well equipped - a little on the smaller side, but comfortable for two people. Bathroom was lovely, and we especially appreciated the Le Labo products. The snacks station in the communal area was a treat! Would highly recommend staying.
We would have loved a coffee machine in the room!

Convenient location
This place has a strong unpleasant stench (hotel and in room) - advertised parking, there is no parking

Wonderfully designed hotel in historic building downtown in gaslamp district. Top notch staff. Delicious welcome cocktail, excellent fresh breakfast and free amenities bar. Inly 20-minute pleasant walk to harbour front and cruise terminal.
The room was a little chilly since the AC had been on and we checked in at night. Yes, there are some transient people outside but hotel is secure and safe and streets were cleaned.

Fantastic service and quality of the hotel overall, for a very reasonable price. Our room was ready early when we arrived, and we even got a late check-out without any hesitation by the very friendly staff.
I will recommend this hotel to all my friends if they are looking to stay in San Diego.

It’s in the details! From the complementary cocktails at check in, to all the greenery and animal accents. I loved it! Very clean and staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very good as well, the fresh fruit and over night oats were great.
Nothing, everything was great.

Beautiful decor. Comfy beds
Gaslamp area itself has gotten a bit grotty from previous visits, but the hotel is lovely and is always staffed and controls entry. Could be just following massive event like comic con though!

The interior design was beautiful and a great example of a re-purposed heritage building.
Great location in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter.
Rooms were a little small but only because it was a heritage building. It was still very comfortable.

Decor was great throughout hotel. Super comfy bed and generous sized room. Location ideal for walking as well as all forms of public transport. Petco Park, Little Italy, Marina, and Santa Fe depot for Amtrak all easy to reach. Always a doorman for security. Thank you. Welcome drink upon arrival. Nice added extra. We were on Level 4 and could not hear outside noise. Breakfast was included in rate.
This property could almost score a 10. Almost. Breakfast was ample and tasty when replenished. But often there was no coffee, cutlery, food items and you could see guests asking staff to refill. The “goodies” cupboard on each floor is a great idea but during our 4 night stay the water and coffee were out of order and the half of the sweet treat canisters did not work.
Some days we got towels, hand towels and face cloths. Some days just towels. The shampoo canister was located near the wash basin and hand soap inside the shower. We asked to
swap out but that never happened.

The whole vibe and atmosphere when you arrive was wonderful. From the doorman taking care of valet, to the lobby which was beautifully decorated with lush plants and pleasant music. Not to mention the free cocktail at check in.
The room was very nice and the added amenity of the coffee bar/cereal cabinet in the hallway was brilliant!! The breakfast included was delicious with a variety of options.
Loved our stay and definitely will be back again and refer friends and family .

The decor and environment was absolutely amazing!! I am completely obsessed by the vibes of this place. The location was also right by where we were seeing a comedy show. Plus had one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had at a hotel!
There were just homeless in the area which I know is to be expected in San Diego. But the door staff did make me feel better about it which was great!

Our stay at the Granger hotel was very pleasant. I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, drinks, and snacks that they provided throughout our stay. Our room was also very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
One thing that I didn't like about the hotel was that the snack cabinet on each floor sometimes didn't work. The system they used to dispense the snacks would sometimes get stuck. I went on other floors to see if they had the issue and many of them had the issue as well.

Good location. Clean rooms
Traffic noise can be disturbing at night. Rooms are small. No place to store luggage. Breakfast items get finished fast and are not replaced
