Town: The quiet village of Hornby, in the lovely Lune Valley, is bordered by the famous Lake District to the north, and the Yorkshire Dales to the east. A delightful village, set on an old pack-horse route, Hornby is situated close to where the River Wenning joins the River Lune. Hornby Castle is set on a high hill overlooking the river and is known as the subject of one of Turner's best-loved paintings. Consisting of a scattering of traditional houses, a beautiful Anglican church, two pubs and a local Post Office with tea room, there are several 'undiscovered' quiet walks around the village and other, more frequented walks and places of interest close by.
