Orrest Head House, a majestic Lakeland property a moment's walk from Windermere village.
Orrest Head House is the perfect party house with its own bar and a private location. This 5-star house has direct access to the Orrest Head walk and large grounds for the kids to run wild in, yet is within a short walk of Windermere village, where you'll find cafes, shops and bars galore.
The property features 6 ensuite bedrooms, 2 with in-bedroom baths that overlook the extensive gardens. The lounge seats 16 and dining room seats 18 — and if you rent Orrest Head Cottage too, everyone can eat and socialise together.
The kitchen is where everyone gathers. It's the perfect place for lazy breakfasts and relaxed evening meals. Step outside onto the verandah — sheltered seating right on the front patio, whatever the weather's doing — before heading out into the beautiful gardens, a great playground for the kids.
We have parking for a fleet of cars and a fast EV charger for those with electric vehicles. We welcome up to 4 dogs at the property, with an additional charge per dog added at check-out.

We had a wonderful stay at Orrest Head House. The house is amazing and we were very privileged to be the first to stay in ‘The Loft’. This bedroom is a great addition to the house. It’s a super location for exploring the Lakes, and we can’t wait to return!

Second stay here. Beautiful house and location. All facilities provided, well equipped house. A few minor issues with repairs but owner responsive and friendly. The house has builders atm and they kept leaving the gate open to a busy road. Beds a little firm for our family. Other than that an excellent experience, one we hope to repeat.

We had a wonderful weekend at Orrest Head House and Cottage. The properties were really well appointed, clean, comfortable and the management was excellent. We were well informed about what to expect which enabled us to plan an easy stay. There was plenty of space inside and outside and the location was perfect. None of our guests had a bad word to say.

We had a great time at Orrest Head, the house is beautiful with plenty of room for big families. The bedrooms were spacious and comfy, and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need for catering for large group size.
The location was fantastic, we loved walking up Orrest Head with the dogs, Windermere was just a 5 minute walk away, and can walk, jump on a bus, or take the car to explore elsewhere too.
The hosts are great, clear information and available to answer queries too- thank you, we had a great stay.
