Orrest Head is the perfect party house with it's own bar and private location. This 5 star house has direct access to the Orrest Head walk and large grounds for the kids to run wild in, yet is within a short walk of Windermere village where you'll find cafes, shops and bars galore.

The property features 5 ensuite bedrooms, 2 with in-bedroom baths that over look the extensive gardens. The lounge and dining room both seat 18, if you rent Orrest Head Cottage (to the rear) everyone can eat and socialise together. The kitchen in Orrest Head House is where everyone gathers, it's the perfect place for lazy breakfasts and relaxed evening meals. The beautiful gardens at Orrest Head House make a great playground. We have parking for a fleet of cars and a fast EV charger for those with electric vehicles.

We welcome up to 4 dogs at the property. There is an additional charge per dog, which can be added at check-out.

Great place to stay, we had six adults and five grandkids there. The double room all with bathrooms and king size beds. The kitchen facilities are very good and the downstairs WC were excellent. The main living room is huge with lots of comfortable seating. The outdoor space is fantastic with a massive table and seating. The kids enjoyed playing in the large garden and everyone left happy

We booked following recommendation from a friend of our family. We were a family group of 15 staying in both the house and the cottage. The standard and quality of the accommodation is first class. We were staying for our wedding at Kendal Town Hall and had booked outside caterers for our post wedding celebrations as well as the following day. We had our wedding breakfast using both the dining room and the covered terrace. Both were spectacular. The kitchen facilities were excellent and greatly appreciated by our caterers. The grounds surrounding the house were a wonderful addition to our stay. The location was ideal being 15 minutes by car from Kendal and a 5 minute walk from the centre of Windermere. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Orrest Head House and Cottage to both friends and others.

We had a family party of 15 , so we hired the cottage as well as the house., The house was very spacious , we were celebrating our Golden Wedding . The bar was great, we did stock it up well too ! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend ,as did my two little doggies .

It was the ideal place for the whole family to gather to celebrate a big Birthday The catering for a Dinner Party on Saturday was a great success and the Company suggested by the owner could not have been better The location of the House was perfect for us to enjoy a boat trip on the Lake and the surrounding area for walking the dogs. A beautiful property with fantastic gardens. It was a delight to spend a week there, sat in the garden amongst the mature trees watching the wildlife go by. Out of the town but with regular, easy bus commutes from the train station a short walk away. I would recommend it to any large party.

From start to finish this was the perfect stay! The owners were more than happy to help with queries before our stay, replying to emails quickly. The house had absolutely everything- including champagne glasses to make our stay super comfortable. So much space and lovely rooms, brilliant en suites and a fabulous outdoor space meant we could use it all to make our hen party weekend perfect. We had 12 guests and there was plenty of room. Would highly recommend - we are now thinking of an excuse to return!

The house was perfect for my best friends hen do. It blew her away with the size, location and the luxury elements. Each room has its own bathroom, there’s multiple communal spaces and the driveway is huge. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Lovely house which is well sited close to Windermere. A blend of modern and rustic facilities. Very well equipped kitchen and superb bedrooms with en suite facilities. The dining room and kitchen chairs were a little uncomfortable and cushions would have been appreciated. A large front garden well back from the busy Windermere/Kendal road. I was a little disappointed with the outdoor furniture, not very comfortable but since the weather was poor we had limited use of it.

We had both properties for a 40th birthday celebration from work. They obviously attract and cater to large groups such as Hen Dos and birthdays and so I was worried the house might reflect this and be worn or shabby but it was beautiful and really clean. The location was great, near enough to walk to pubs and shops but far away enough that I didn't have to shout at my young colleagues to turn the music down. We found the 2 house set up great as 5 of us older ones or ones who need a break from large groups could go back to chill out or sleep. The large house was great for the main events with a pub room and a large kitchen for kitchen disco. All our interactions with the owners made us feel welcome. Would love to go back.

The kitchen is very well equipped with two large larders. We got wet and there were dryers to use … the grounds were absolutely gorgeous and we had great family time playing rounders and cricket. This house was absolutely perfect for our group celebrating a hen party. There was 12 of us in the main house and there was ample room for us all. The beds were extremely comfortable. The location was perfect for walking into Windermere and a short taxi from Bowness. The house was clean and had all facilities that were needed for our weekend. Wow.. where to begin? The house is absolutely stunning and huge.. the pictures don’t convey quite how big it is. We had a fabulous stay for a family big birthday, age ranges from 1- 70, and there was something for everyone! The bar is a fantastic touch and made it really special. The decor is beautiful, beds are comfy and the owners really helpful with recommendations beforehand. Location is fabulous to windemere centre (4-5 min walk) and we actually walked to bowness from the house too and wasn’t bad at all! Thank you for a memorable weekend x

We combined our booking at Orrest Head House with another at one of the Terrace houses as our group for a family celebration was too large for the house. The accommodation was ideal for our group. The house has a good range of en-suite bedrooms and excellent spaces for gathering together. We mentioned a few items that were in need of repair and/or maintenance to the owners. Overall the house was just perfect for our needs and provided the perfect venue for what was a truly memorable family occasion.

Treated all the family to a weekend at Orrest Head House.Perfect place for a celebration.House really does cater for all age groups with plenty of space to party or chill out. House has plenty of parking but you have to be careful exiting the property onto the busy main road. Really good points are the dining room,bedrooms,kitchen and and the bar which is a great addition.Dishwasher ready for an upgrade but that is being really picky.Great weekend would return.

Wow what can i say, this house is fantastic! On arrival we were so excited and the house did not disappoint. The house was immaculate, so tastefully decorated, so many rooms to explore and also had everything we needed for our weekend stay, whether that be towels in the bedrooms or all the basics you need in the kitchen. The house and cottage are also set on beautiful grounds which are very well maintained. It was a very special weekend for a large group of us that also hired the cottage as well, the house was large enough to entertain everyone of us for eating meals and all being together, it was perfect from beginning to end, even the weather was kind to us.The customer service from the owner was superb, ringing to check on a few details and then getting in touch when we had left a very important item behind! I would definitely recommend Orrest Head House and cottage to anyone visiting the Lake district.

We had a great stay. Great location. 1 minute walk to town. 2 mile to bowness, there is also buses at £2 to get there or back. Local Chippy wasn't great! But the Popeyes pizza takeaway was fantastic. Bedrooms and ensuites are good, my son loved the bath in the bedroom! Only slight down side possibly being an old house was some rooms smelt musty. I think it's probably down to some rooms not being used and carpets/ blankets and cushions maybe need a freshen up. The large outside table needs sanding and painting we couldn't use it as little mushrooms growing. But we used the other benches in the garden which were lovely in the sun. Porch needed a good power wash. It has everything you need inc washer, dryer, ironing board, hairdryer. Kitchen is very well stocked but could do with a few more flat oven trays. Non of this spoilt our holiday and so many things were well thought through would definitely book again!
