Smithy Cottage

What a lovely home away from home! Anything we could have wanted had already been anticipated and provided. The rooms were beautifully decorated, there was plenty of space for two, the kitchen is very well-appointed with everything we needed to prepare meals. We slept wonderfully in total comfort and quiet, and it was an excellent base for exploring the area. Mahri and Jim (and Hamish!) were welcoming and considerate hosts: we were delighted to find a bottle of wine on our arrival. There's more we'd like to see in Aberdeenshire so we hope to come back. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

We liked everything! The owners live next door and are friendly and informative. Inside, the cottage seems much larger than it appears to be from the outside - our daughter loved the fact that she could have the whole upstairs as her own, complete with her own shower facilities, Beautifully furnished, and everything worked (unlike our kitchen drawers at home!). Very comfortable beds, 2 shower rooms, well-equipped kitchen, and a very cosy lounge with plenty of seating. Easy parking. Gardens front and back with lots of birds visiting. The cottage is fantastic for stargazing on a clear night - no light pollution at all. Very quiet and peaceful location, yet within easy reach of the region's main tourist attractions, including lovely scenery, umpteen castles, distilleries, interesting towns and all kinds of beautiful walks.

Nothing it was perfect

Great location, comfortable and super clean. The hosts live next door and are very helpful and friendly. The cottage has everything you need for a great hiking trip in the Cairngorms National Park. Next year I’ll be back for some more hikes!
