Remote, warm and cozy

We went in December, and it was wonderful. The house is very cozy and warm, and it is placed in a idyllic setting, near a frozen lake. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, and we felt very welcome there. Their dogs are very friendly and playful, and they also have horses. We also had a barbecue in the kota and we used the sauna (complete with ice dipping). Even though it was very cold outside, it was always warm inside, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We truly recommend this place for a very authentic winter visit.

This stay was an absolute slice of heaven in the woods…the lake views were a bonus!

I travel the world and this offgrid farmhouse was hands down my favorite stay! From the kindness and communication of the owner and groundsmen, to the charming rustic simplicity of the home. You can tell they enjoy hosting this amazing bed and breakfast. The breakfast was delicious with an abundance of chives. The private onsite cabin I booked had huge windows allowing me to witness a beautiful heavy snowfall at 3am. The dogs and horses were adorable too! The big selling point for me was the add-on cute lakeside shack with sauna and candlelit access into the natural cold plunge on the frozen lake. It was perfect in every way!💕

I can’t think of anything for improvement really-just some people may not like the drive being a bit out of the way….but the paradise that awaits is totally worth the drive-even on the snow packed roads. I had no trouble at all, but still took it slow.

For people who loves silent and dogs.

Nice place by a great lake in the middle of nowhere. You get there by a 15 km long gravel road. The welcomming by the owner and her 3 nice and friendly dogs. Very good evening meal and in the morning a good breakfast with porudge and wafels.

The best local experience in Lapland

We had an amazing time in Kotatuli - staying with a local family (and their dogs) really makes a trip to Lapland very special and personal. Living in the middle of the forest is such a treat to relax and unwind, plus you get to see the Northern Lights driving there. Totally recommended!

Cozy 2 night stay in a magical setting!

Our stay at Kotatuli Forest Lodge was the icing on the cake to an already dreamy adventure! My family (2 adults, 2 7-year olds) stayed for 2 nights and loved this cozy cottage in a beautiful setting. Owners and staff were all lovely, welcoming and warm. They even helped me pay a parking ticket (oops) I had gotten earlier in the trip. The sauna experience complete with an icy dip in the frozen lake was an absolute highlight and all guests should take advantage of this amenity. My kids loved the four-legged family members on this farm!! Should we have the great fortune of returning to this area of the world, we will with no doubt be heading straight to Kotatuli.

Lovely and peaceful farm

The hosts are amazing! Such lovely people, including the dogs (playful and polite), and the place was very cozy. Katjia cooks yummy food and they are very helpful with the activities offered by them within our schedule. And the best is that they also offer pickup and drop off service for the ones without car rental and is very worthy to get 1h drive to reach this peaceful and blessed place. Everything is new in the farm and the decoration is very welcoming.

I would recommend this place to all my friends and family.

We absolutely LOVE this place. We are 3 friends travelling together and we booked the Chalet. The cabin where we slept is picture perfect, minty fresh clean. We were smitten with the cozy fireplace inside. Although it's in the middle of the forest in the cold, the heating system did a wonderful job keeping us warm. The sauna and BBQ hut give us an authentic experience of Northern Finland. The hosts - Katja, Joni, Veera, and Jenna (apologies if I've misspelled any names), were incredibly kind and went out of their way to assist us. And I save the best for last, the hosts have 3 therapy dogs and horses. They are the loveliest creatures you will ever meet.

The only thing we didn't like was leaving. I wish we could've stayed longer.

Expérience incroyable !

L'endroit était sublime ! Ce Lodge fut un des meilleurs endroits de notre séjour en Laponie. Le personnel et les propriétaires des lieux ont été adorables avec nous. Nous avons rencontrés de belles personnes et avons participé à des expériences uniques (Ice Fishing, snowmobile, aurores boréales sur le lac gelé). Nous sommes sûrs que si nous revenons en Laponie, nous repasserons par ce Lodge et nous y resterons plus qu'un jour.

Retiro increíble

Alojamiento increíble, la familia que lo regenta es de lo mejor que hay, muy atentos y amables. El sitio es inmejorable con una sauna a orillas del rio tradicional que supera todas las expectativas. El desayuno buenísimo. Lo recomiendo a todo el mundo! Tienen dos perros muy cariñosos que hacen aun mejor la estancia.

Tiny house dans une nature époustouflante

Environnement exceptionnel en pleine nature, hébergement original et exceptionnel dans une tiny house en pleine forêt, super expérience à vivre! Le chalet principal est charmant et authentique. La forêt et le lac et les infrastructures (sauna) mettent tout de suite dans l’ambiance finlandaise. Les hôtes sont charmants, accueillants et je vous conseille d’y dîner et d’y prendre le petit déjeuner, nous nous sommes régalés 😋🤨. Nous avons tout aimé même si nous avons eu -35 degrés. La tiny house était bien chauffée avec le poêle. Nous avons eu un problème d’arrivée d’eau avec le froid extrême qui a été réglé par le propriétaire le matin. Il a été très réactif et d’une telle gentillesse

Tout était parfait 👍 Il y avait des aurores boréales cette nuit là mais l’extrême froid nous a empêché de les observer sur le lac avec -35 degrés!

Enttäuschender Abschluss in einem eigentlichen TOP Chalet.

Die Lage des Chalets mitten im Wald und am See, weit und breit niemand. Bequeme Betten. Ausstattung in Ordnung. Die Angestellten waren sehr nett.

Holzofen zum selber einheizen, kamen bei -27 Grad in einen kalten Container. Feuer war unmöglich zu machen für uns, baten die Angestellten darum, ließen uns sehr lange warten. Kamen nach 5 Stunden in das halbwegs warme Chalet. Außerdem funktionierte keine Wasser im Chalet. Darum wurde sich allerdings sofort gekümmert, konnte aber auch nicht gelöst werden, bekamen einen Wasserkanister. Allerdings war kein Duschen möglich und das Verwenden des Klos auch sehr mühsam. Ärgerlich war die lange Wartezeit (knappe 5 Stunden) und dass von den Eigentümern keine Anzeichen einer Entschuldigung oder eines Entgegenkommens gekommen sind.

Magica experiencia navideña

Una casa de ensueño en mitad del bosque. La habitacion es tal cual se describe y muy comoda. El resto de zonas comunes son compartidas pero estan en excelente condiciones. Ademas, los propietarios te dan conversacion y se preocupan por hacer que te sientas lo mas cómodo posible. En cuanto al desayuno que te incluyen está increible y muy completo y, por ser Navidad, nos dieron la opcion de cenar (por un precio adicional). Por ultimo, la ubicación hace que sea un lugar excepcional para ver auroras sin tener que irte muy lejos.

Nada en general, aunque puede hacerse un poco largo el viaje cada vez que quieres salir de la casa (~1h en coche hasta Rovaniemi). Otra cosa, es que las chimeneas de leña estan en el salon y la habitación puede sentirse algo fria en invierno sobretodo pero con las mantas se esta bien.

Alles, wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Wir wären sehr gern noch länger geblieben und würden sehr gern eines Tages wieder hier zu Gast sein. Sehr zu empfehlen ist die traditionelle holzsauna und das Eisbaden !

Un lugar para repetir

Me encantó alojarme en Kotatuli, estar accesible pero lo necesariamente alejado de Rovamieni me encantó. El alojamiento para amantes de lo auténtico, cuidado y la naturaleza es excelente. La amabilidad del personal y sentirme unos días parte de su hogar sería lo que más me ha gustado y a mi hija los perritos. El enclave, la casita con la barbacoa, el lago, las vistas y la sauna son de 10!!!volveremos

Klein und familiär

Es ist so schön ruhig gewesen, tolle Lage. Die Gastgeber waren super lieb. Man wurde nicht wie in einem Hotel behandelt, sondern wie ein Mitbewohner. Es gab ein gemeinsames Frühstück. Sauna konnte auch benutzt werden Ganz klare Empfehlung!

Es gab nur ein Bad, allerdings auch nur zwei Zimmer, weshalb das schon ok war

Ruhe und Natur ,sind hier zu finden, gerne wieder

In absoluter Ruhe und in Harmonie. Wir haben eine Nacht während unserer Skandinavienreise hier verbracht und wurden herzlich empfangen und mit einem schönen Abendessen verwöhnt. Wir waren im August dort und zu unserem Zeitpunkt die einzigste Gäste. Der überwiegende Teil der Gäste kommt im Herbst und Winter. Und dann ,wenn alle am Tisch zusammen sind und essen ,kommt auch dieses heimelige Gefühl wovon in den anderen Bewertungen die Rede ist. Gut geschlafen und nach einen super Frühstück verlassen wir dieses Ort und empfehlen in gerne weiter . Wir wünschen alles Gute und weiterhin viele nette Gäste.

Es gibt nichts zu kritisieren. Zur Info;: wer Familienleben, große Gemeinschaft keine Allergien gegen Pferde und Hunde ( es gehören drei große,liebe Hunde zur Familie) hat und die Natur und Ruhe liebt ,der ist hier genau richtig.

Kotatuli znaczy "ognisko domowe" i faktycznie, było jak w domu u bliskich krewnych. Było super:)

Wspaniała rodzinna atmosfera, cudowna okolica. Wspólne śniadania, zresztą bardzo dobre, dające wytchnienie od hotelowego żarcia. Fińskie, rodzinne śniadanie. Psy. Konie. Było extra, nic bym nie zmienił. Reniferów, w trakcie dojazdu widzieliśmy ze 30. Łażą po okolicy, wystarczy krótki spacer, by je spotkać. Będziemy wracać do Kotatuli tak często, jak to tylko możliwe.

Familiäre Unterkunft im gefühlten Nirgendwo

Man wurde freundlich begrüßt und die Gastgeber waren aufgeschlossen und hilfsbereit. Es gibt eine große Küche mit allem was man braucht und Wohnzimmer mit großem Esstisch. Eine Sauna direkt am See und kleine Hütte für Indoor und Outdoor Lagerfeuer gibt's im Garten. Beides nutzen wir jedoch nicht. Das Frühstück war liebevoll angerichtet und vielseitig. Es gibt Pferde draußen mit welchen auch Touren gebucht werden könnten. Mit 3 freundlichen Hunden sollte man auch kein Problem haben. Der älteste darf auch ins Haus. Man riecht im Flur dies auch aber nicht im Haus selbst. Der Weg zur Unterkunft ist nicht asphaltiert aber gut befahrbar. Vorsicht Rentiere, wie überall in Lappland.

Das Bad wurde gemeinsam genutzt, was nicht schlimm war. Baulich fehlt jedoch richtige Abluft (kein Fenster) was einen muffigen Geruch verursacht hat.

Un soggiorno autentico nella natura lappone

Esperienza indimenticabile nella natura lappone! I proprietari sono stati estremamente gentili e accoglienti: abbiamo anche cenato con loro e ci hanno fatto trovare una torta pee il mio compleanno, un gesto davvero speciale. La sauna tradizionale a legna (non elettrica!) è stata un momento autentico e rilassante, immersi nel silenzio del bosco. Struttura curata nei minimi dettagli, atmosfera calda e familiare. Assolutamente consigliato a chi cerca un’esperienza genuina in Lapponia.

Unico aspetto migliorabile: il bagno è condiviso da troppe persone, e la nostra camera affacciava direttamente sulla sala da pranzo, quindi con poca privacy. Un secondo bagno, anche esterno, sarebbe davvero utile e apprezzato.
