Steps from the Duomo — and we mean steps. The building has beautiful historical character with original dressers and a kitchenette cleverly hidden inside what looks like a wardrobe, but modern AC in every room, updated showers, and contemporary bathrooms mean you never sacrifice comfort for charm. The host is what pushed this from great to exceptional — he met us right where our taxi pulled up, gave us a full tour and genuinely useful local recommendations, and even arranged our departure taxi without us asking. That level of care is rare.

The elevator is currently being installed (was told to be completed mid July 2026), so plan for 3 flights of stairs with luggage. Worth it — but worth knowing ahead of time.

Fantastic location just steps from the Duomo. There's lots of places to eat nearby, a great gelateria almost right outside the door and a Carrefour express on the same block. We stayed during a big heatwave, and it was really useful to be able to tourist in the Centro and retreat back for an air conditioned break so easily (for example between climbing the dome and going to look at the baptistry). Other sights like the Uffizi were also really easy to walk to. Communication with the host was also super easy and they also helped us reserve a taxi for our early morning flight.

Cleanliness and location

The AC was not cold and only the fan was working. The main entry way was still under construction and there was a bad smell that I can’t explain.
